Your role will involve writing new and renewal business for a designated client portfolio, working with brokers and clients to support profitable growth in line with the Business Plan, and developing high-quality relationships with brokers, clients, and internal teams.

This is a regulated role under the Central Bank of Ireland’s Fitness and Probity regime.

Responsibilities include:

• Reviewing submissions such as applications, policy wording, inspection reports, loss runs, and financial reports, conducting research to assess risk.
• Calculating risk premiums considering risk costs, reinsurance cessions, and administrative costs to ensure profitability.
• Advising and servicing clients on insurance and risk management matters to ensure satisfaction.
• Managing relationships to identify cross-selling opportunities and retain accounts.
• Ensuring timely implementation of accounts according to quality standards.
• Supporting business planning, monitoring financial exposure, and premium income.
• Maintaining awareness of claims and supporting claim settlements.

Reporting line:

You will report to the Underwriting Manager Marine, Italy.

Required skills and abilities:

• Proven underwriting experience, ideally in Marine, with a track record of profitable underwriting.
• Good industry knowledge and understanding of underwriting procedures and risk assessment.
• Passion for the Marine sector to support clients and brokers.
• Proficiency in Italian and English, spoken and written.
• Stakeholder management skills, including negotiation and relationship building.
• Teamwork skills across different levels of seniority.
