Join to apply for the Senior Mechanical Engineer role at NTT DATA Europe & Latam.
Who We Are
We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our automotive development team. The ideal candidate brings hands‑on expertise in HMI mechanical design, plastic injection components, haptic mechanisms, and CATIA-based 3D modelling. Prior experience in similar automotive projects is required and the ability to step into the role with minimal ramp‑up time.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Design and develop HMI components such as rotaries, knobs, push buttons, sliders, light guides, backlit elements, and decorative parts.
- Ensure ergonomic, tactile, and haptic performance (force curves, click feeling, torque, stiffness).
- Collaborate with electronics and software teams to align mechanical and functional requirements.
- Develop mechanical architecture concepts for modules or sub‑systems (housing, carriers, brackets, interfaces).
- Define and validate packaging, tolerances, fastening solutions, and assembly processes.
- Contribute to DFMEA, DVP&R, and validation planning for mechanical parts.
- 3D Modelling & CAD (CATIA)
- Create detailed CAD models, assemblies, and drawings using CATIA V5/V6.
- Maintain design documentation and ensure proper integration with PLM systems.
- Perform tolerance analysis, feasibility checks, and manufacturability reviews (DFM/DFA).
- Work with tactile/haptic elements: springs, detents, friction materials, damping, torque elements.
- Validate mechanical force profiles and optimize tactile feedback.
- Support prototype builds and measurements for haptic validation.
- Design plastic injection‑molded components considering tooling constraints, draft angles, ribs, clips, warpage, and material selection.
- Interface with suppliers for tooling feasibility, mold‑flow analysis, and sample reviews.
- Support industrialization and pre‑series activities.
- Work closely with system engineers, electronics, industrial design, validation, and manufacturing teams.
- Provide technical support during reviews with OEM/Tier‑1 customers.
- Participate in design reviews, technical presentations, and alignment meetings.
What You’ll Bring Along
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 4 to 7 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer in the automotive industry.
- Strong expertise in HMI mechanical components (rotaries, knobs, light guides, decorative parts)
- Knowledge of mechanical structure & architecture: CATIA (V5/V6)
- Knowledge of haptics, mechanical forces, tactile mechanisms
- Knowledge of plastic injection moulding
- Ability to independently handle engineering tasks from concept to final release.
- Solid understanding of DFM/DFA, tolerance analysis, and mechanical validation.
- Experience with automotive OEM/Tier‑1 development processes.
- Knowledge of GD&T, DFMEA, and DVP&R.
- Excellent command of both spoken and written English
