Job Summary
We are on the lookout for a Senior Game Designer! In this role, you will design and refine systemic gameplay mechanics that reward curiosity, planning, and imaginative problem‑solving while contributing to a rich, atmospheric, and memorable world.
Responsibilities
- Own key gameplay features from concept to implementation, ensuring they feel intuitive, expressive, and satisfying.
- Design mechanics, systems, and player tools that encourage multiple approaches and meaningful choices.
- Develop gameplay systems such as traversal, interaction mechanics, AI behavior, and player‑driven tools.
- Collaborate closely with Level Design, crowd AI, Art, Programming, and Narrative to ensure unified and engaging gameplay.
- Evaluate playtests, understand player behavior, and translate insights into balanced, accessible, and scalable systems.
- Create clear design documentation, specifications, schematics, and presentations for multidisciplinary teams.
- Mentor junior designers and contribute to a collaborative, constructive design culture.
- Work with programmers and AI teams to ensure gameplay systems are technically robust and scalable.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a Game Designer on AA/AAA productions, with at least one shipped title.
- Strong background in systemic gameplay, player tools, and feature ownership from prototype to final implementation.
- Ability to design, tune, and document gameplay systems such as traversal, interaction mechanics, crowd AI, abilities, and risk/reward loops.
- Experience designing player‑driven scenarios supporting alternative paths, varying levels of aggression/exposure, and environmental strategy.
- Systemic thinking with the ability to create mechanics that interact in emergent ways.
- Experience working with AI‑driven encounters, perception systems, and reactive world elements.
- Skilled in balancing pacing, difficulty, and affordances across interconnected gameplay systems.
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Unreal Engine gameplay tools (Blueprints, data assets, prototyping).
- Familiarity with narrative‑driven mechanics and in‑world storytelling.
- Understanding of lighting, sound, and UX as gameplay communication tools.
- Experience designing physics‑driven or interactive environmental elements.
- Experience with reactive AI, environmental interactions, or narrative‑supporting systems.
