Job Summary
The EHS Project Engineer supports the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) initiatives. This role works closely with the EHS team to ensure compliance with EHS standards and regulations, develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The EHS Project Engineer is hands‑on in executing EHS‑related projects, ensuring practical application and adherence to safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Management and Execution: Lead, manage, and actively participate in EHS‑related projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and meet all safety and environmental standards.
- Initiative Development: Collaborate with the EHS team to design and enhance EHS initiatives, integrating them into engineering operations.
- Risk Management: Perform detailed risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify and mitigate potential safety and environmental risks in engineering projects.
- Regulatory Compliance: Monitor and ensure that all engineering activities adhere to local, national, and international EHS regulations and standards.
- Technical Support: Provide expert technical advice and support on EHS matters to the engineering team, helping to resolve any issues that arise.
- Incident Management: Contribute to the investigation of EHS incidents and near‑misses, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement in EHS practices and processes within engineering projects.
- Procedure Development: Assist the EHS team in creating and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for various activities to ensure they align with EHS standards.
- Procedure Review and Improvement: Collaborate with the EHS team to review and refine procedures based on feedback, incident investigations, and regulatory changes, providing support to ensure effective implementation.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience in an engineering role with a focus on EHS.
- Strong knowledge of EHS regulations and standards.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills.
- Effective communication abilities.
