About the Position
We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer ("Mechanical Systems Lead") to join the EMEA Customer front Office (CfO) team. This position can be based either at our office in Torino or at our office in Corbetta.
Responsibilities
As the EMEA CfO Mechanical Systems Lead, you will oversee and provide expertise in mechanical technologies and systems in front of Marelli EMEA customers. You are assigned a perimeter defined by a product line (e.g., Display, Cockpit), a customer (e.g., Stellantis, German OEMs), or a combination of both. The role specifically targets Display for German OEMs.
- Offer Phase:
- Assist with each received RFI/RFQ and participate in the offer team.
- Ensure alignment of the solution with the standard technical solution promoted by the Mechanics Center of Excellence (CoE).
- Identify Mechanics resources with support from the CfO Head, Mechanics CoE Head, and Engineering Product Line (EPL) Head.
- Drive the Mechanical offer process or designate another resource to do so, remaining accountable for:
- Effort/cost estimation of the offer (built by the Mechanics CoE team).
- Draft Mechanical Time Plan matching Project Level 1 Time Plan.
- Coverage of entry Mechanical requirements and dependencies on other functions (HW, validation, etc.).
- Mechanical Bill of Material (BoM) with Mechanics CoE support.
- High‑level Technical presentation built by Mechanics CoE.
- Preliminary general characteristics (materials, dimensional tolerances, cleanliness, etc.) needed for quotation.
- Preliminary 3D data (if required) with CoE support.
- Support Proof of Concepts presented to customers, in collaboration with Advanced Engineering & Innovation and/or Product Management teams.
Development Phase:
- At project kickoff, hand over overall accountability to the Mechanics CoE.
- Support the Project Core Team as follows:
- Stay informed about progress of Mechanical activities.
- Improve communication with the customer when required, linking the customer and Mechanics CoE team.
- Ensure awareness of processes, toolchains and customer‑specific constraints within the Mechanical project team.
- Monitor consistency between proposed and implemented solutions, and clarify any customer needs.
- Support evaluation of Customer Change Requests.
Maintenance Phase:
- Maintain duties from the Development phase after SOP for change requests and VA/VE actions.
- Support System Front Desk and Quality teams for local plant/field returns requiring R&D analysis.
Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Education/Knowledge oriented to automotive embedded systems and their design.
- Good knowledge of mechanical system/equipment and testing automotive validation.
- Strong experience (8+ years) in a similar automotive/traction/industrial role.
- Strong functional leadership experience.
- Team‑working mindset and excellent interactional and communication skills.
- Knowledge of display integration (LCD, OLED) in car architecture.
- Extensive knowledge of GD&T (ASME 14.5) and tolerance chain calculation.
- Understanding of plastic and/or metal raw materials (Aluminum, Magnesium) and their application in automotive electromechanical assemblies.
- Knowledge of plastic/metal production tools and processes, including post‑production treatments such as graining, painting and chrome plating.
- Experience with molding equipment, mold maintenance, mold remaking, metal stamping, die casting, thixo‑forming processes.
