The Interface Engineer is responsible for managing and coordinating all technical, operational, and contractual interfaces between different project packages, disciplines, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure the seamless execution of an oil & gas project. This role ensures that design and execution plans are consistent, compatible, and aligned across all interfacing scopes such as top sides, subsea, pipelines, onshore facilities, utilities, and third-party systems avoiding gaps, overlaps, and conflicts.
General Description of Role and Responsibilities [ but not limited to ]:
Interface Identification & Management
- Identify all internal and external interfaces between project work packages and third parties.
- Develop and maintain the Project Interface Register and Interface Management Plan.
- Ensure all interfaces have clearly defined responsibilities, scope boundaries, and deliverables.
Coordination & Communication
- Facilitate regular interface meetings between contractors, vendors, and stakeholders.
- Act as the single point of contact for interface matters between designated packages.
- Track and manage interface requests, clarifications, and agreements.
Technical & Design Consistency
- Ensure consistency of design data, specifications, and drawings between interfacing packages.
- Review and comment on engineering deliverables to ensure alignment across boundaries.
- Coordinate resolution of mismatches in design, tie-in points, operating philosophies, and control systems.
- Maintain up-to-date interface documentation, agreements, and change records.
- Ensure all interface deliverables are submitted and approved in accordance with project schedules.
- Integrate interface status reporting into overall project progress reports.
- Proactively identify potential conflicts and risks at interfaces.
- Facilitate resolution of technical and schedule conflicts between contractors.
- Escalate unresolved interface issues to management with recommended solutions.
- Monitor EPC Contractors interface management processes and ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Verify that all interface agreements are implemented and closed before mechanical completion.
- Participate in readiness reviews and handover checks to ensure interface points are fully integrated.
- Interface Management Plan.

- Signed Interface Agreements between stakeholders.
- Monthly Interface Status Reports.
- Closed-out interface documentation for handover.
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Process, or related discipline).
- 8+ years of oil & gas project experience, with at least 3 years in interface management.
- Proven experience in multi-package EPC/PMC projects (offshore platforms, pipelines, onshore processing, utilities).
- Strong knowledge of engineering design processes, construction, commissioning, and project controls.
- Experience in large-scale offshore developments (subsea-to-shore, FPSO, WHP, or LNG projects).
- Familiarity with interface management software/tools (e.g., ICMS, SharePoint, Prodom).
- Offshore survival (BOSIET) and HSE awareness training.
