Job Overview

We are looking for a Project Engineer with expertise in Control and Protection Systems for Transmission System Operator (TSO) applications, to be hired with a permanent contract in Milan within the Electrification & Automation Business Unit.

Your Challenge

As an Electrical Project Engineer focused on Control and Protection Systems (TSO Applications) you will be involved in complex projects focused on the delivery, installation, and commissioning of advanced protection and control systems for high‑voltage power facilities. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams (i.e. Project Management team...).

  • Act as the technical lead for projects involving substation automation and protection systems within high‑voltage and extra‑high‑voltage transmission networks.
  • Design and engineer control, protection, and communication systems in accordance with project specifications, grid codes, and international standards.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including project management, commissioning and procurement.
  • Interface with Transmission System Operators (TSOs), end users, and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle (engineering, construction, in premises testing and on‑site commissioning).
  • Ensure quality, cost‑efficiency, and timely delivery of engineering deliverables.
  • Conduct technical reviews, factory acceptance tests (FAT), and provide support during site commissioning.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of technological developments in IEC 61850, SCADA systems, and digital substation technologies.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience (3+ years) in substation automation, control and protection systems, preferably within TSO environments.
  • Prior experience and/or solid understanding of key processes related to factory acceptance testing (FAT), on‑site installation, and commissioning of protection and control systems for high‑voltage applications.
  • Strong knowledge of protection relays, communication protocols (IEC 61850, Modbus, IEC 104), and SCADA systems.
  • Knowledge of Siemens Protection and Automation product portfolio is a plus.
  • Education background in Electrical/Electronic/Energy/Automation Engineering.
  • Strong communication, analytical thinking, and organizational skills.
  • Passion to never‑stop growing.

  • Proficiency in English and Italian.
