The deck Engineering Coordinator coordinates all engineering activities related to the design, integration, lifting, installation, and commissioning of topside modules or deck structures for offshore platforms, FPSOs, or fixed installations. Acts as the interface between engineering, construction, and marine operations teams to ensure safe and efficient execution of deck-related works. The candidate responsibilities are categorized as follows.
General Description of Role and Responsibilities [but not limited to]:
- Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering input (structural, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation) for topside deck modules or integrated decks.
- Review and consolidate engineering deliverables such as general arrangement (GA) drawings, lifting studies, clash reports, and 3D models.
- Ensure design compliance with client specifications, class requirements (e.g., ABS, DNV), and applicable codes and standards (API, ISO, ASME, etc.).
- Coordinate deck load‑out planning, including grillage and sea fastening, temporary works, and lifting interfaces.
Interface Management
- Interface with construction, lifting/marine, hook‑up, and commissioning teams to ensure integration and sequencing of deck activities.
- Manage technical coordination with subcontractors, vendors, and fabrication yards related to deck equipment and systems.
- Align deck design and installation strategy with marine operations and installation constraints (barge/lift vessel limits, lifting points, center of gravity, etc.).
Construction Support
- Review constructability of deck modules including transport, lifting, and offshore installation.
- Support and monitor fabrication of deck structures at the yard, resolving engineering queries (TQs, NCRs, etc.) in coordination with discipline engineers.
- Provide support during load‑out, transport, and lifting of deck structures offshore.
Planning & Documentation
- Participate in development and tracking of deck‑related schedules, milestones, and progress reporting.
- Prepare and maintain technical coordination logs, MTOs, status reports, and engineering dossiers.
- Support preparation of installation procedures and as‑built documentation for handover.
- Knowledge of top‑deck engineering design, fabrication, and installation.
- Familiarity with design tools (AutoCAD, Navisworks, STAAD Pro).
- Strong interface and coordination skills with multidisciplinary teams.
- Good understanding of offshore lifting, marine operations, and construction sequencing.
- Attention to detail, proactive problem‑solving, and safety‑conscious approach.
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:
- Bachelor of Science Degree (BSc) in Structural Engineering from an accredited university.
- Work experience of eight (8) years in the field of sought discipline after earning the BSc degree.
- Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of offshore experience in total, with at least the last 3–5 years spent on offshore projects.
- Excellent spoken and written English including proven ability to write specifications and reports.
