THE SEARCH

Altus Partners have been retained by a market leading US PE Backed Retail business to secure a Accounting Director based in Milan.

This is a key strategic hire offering full ownership and autonomy to develop internal accounting processes and promote best practice across the region.

There will also be an emphasis on ensuring US GAAP reporting standards and SOX compliance processes are fully adhered to within the group.

The European business of this US brand has revenues of circa €1bn with an EBITDA of €200m.

This opportunity will be based in Central Milan with flexible working / 2 days per week in the office.

THE ROLE

This opportunity will have a core focus around the ongoing development and efficiency of internal accounting processes across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Reporting directly into the European Finance Director, you will review current processes and implement / execute a plan to further develop and enhance the efficiency of these internal controls and processes.
• Ongoing documenting of internal processes and best practice to be utilised across the region.
• Reviewing of the month end accounts across the region before submitting results to the US.
• Review balance sheet and pnl trends providing key insights and commentary.
• Support with US GAAP and SOX audits across the region.
• Drive the adoption of new accounting policies and procedures.

Ad hoc projects and finance transformation initiatives.

Supporting and developing a team of four team, whilst remaining ‘hands on’ and in the detail.

You will be based in the Milan Office, with regional travel when required based on business need

THE REQUIREMENTS

• US GAAP / SOX exposure.
• A track record of developing core accounting processes and procedures.
• Prior leadership experience managing teams and influencing senior internal stakeholders.
• Exposure to a large cap international business environment.
