Responsibilities

• Install, test, implement, maintain, enhance, and support z/VM operating systems, subsystems, and infrastructure applications.
• Perform problem analysis and work with IBM to resolve problems on all supported subsystems.
• Work with Mainframe Technical Services support group to test OS and program products for compatibility with changes.
• Participate in vendor early ship/early support programs as needed.
• Implement new hardware and software technologies as required.
• Develop documentation; provide knowledge transfer to peers.
• Participate in project teams as subject matter expert for existing technologies and new implementations.
• Carry out DR activities for all z/VM systems and ensure failover/failback readiness.

The Role

As a z/VM Administrator Administrator at Kyndryl, you'll solve complex problems and identify potential future issues across the spectrum of platforms and services. You'll be at the forefront of new technology and modernization, working with some of our biggest clients - which means some of the biggest in the world. There's never a typical day as a System Administrator at Kyndryl, because no two projects are alike. You'll be managing systems data for clients and providing day-to-day solutions and security compliance. Key Responsibilities

• Install, test, implement, maintain, enhance, and support z/VM operating systems, subsystems, and infrastructure applications and/or associated facilities.
• Perform problem analysis and work with IBM to resolve problems on all supported subsystems.
• Work with Mainframe Technical Services support group to test operating system and program products to insure compatibility with vendor-supplied changes.
• Participate in vendor early ship/early support programs as needed.
• Implement new hardware and software technologies as required.
• Develops documentation; receives and provide knowledge transfer to peers.
• Participating in project teams as subject matter expert, relating to the support of existing technologies and the selection and implementation of new technologies.
• Responsible for carrying out DR Activities for all the zVM Systems as requested or incase situation arises, and make sure that zVM systems are always ready to Failover and Failback without any issues or interruption to the Business.

Required Technical and Professional Experience

8+ Years Experience with and proficient knowledge of z/VM Hypervisor, CP, CMS, SFS, z/VM networking including VSWITCH, VTAM, TCP/IP, RSCS, and Linux on Z builds. Minimum seven years of systems support background, including a strong working knowledge of procedures to apply IBM software service in the z/VM environment. Expert knowledge of and proficiency with installation, configuration, and maintenance processes in z/VM Environment. Configuration of network interfaces; VSWITCH setup and interfaces to Linux on System z guests. Use DirMaint and native directory management for managing CP directories. Support of IBM Backup and Restore Manager, Tape Manager and DFSMS products for z/VM backups. Ongoing maintenance and support including review of vendor-supplied maintenance materials, e.g., IBM RSU & PUT, to ensure installation of recommended levels of software/firmware. Perform problem analysis and work with IBM to resolve problems on all supported subsystems.

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

Ability to manage multiple, simultaneous tasks. Experience with RACF on z/VM Experience using the IBM Z HMC. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Participating in project teams as subject matter expert, relating to the support of existing technologies and the selection and implementation of new technologies.
