Job summary

GCS is seeking a skilled Wintel Engineer in Pune to provide Windows infrastructure support across on‑premises, private cloud and public cloud platforms. You will manage AD, DNS, DHCP, Entra ID, and security, while maintaining DR/BCP tests and MI reporting.

You will work a hybrid schedule, troubleshoot complex incidents, document procedures, and collaborate with cross‑functional IT teams to ensure compliant, reliable service delivery.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of relevant experience in Wintel engineering or Windows infrastructure support.
• Proven experience managing public cloud environments across Azure, AWS and OCI.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft technologies and Microsoft 365 services in hybrid environments.
• Strong hands-on scripting skills using PowerShell.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to lead technical incident resolution across multiple teams.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to operate at SFIA Level 3.

Responsibilities

• Work UK shifts in a hybrid working model, from the office as required.
• Manage Windows and x86 services across public/private/on-premises environments.
• Administer Azure, AWS and OCI environments, including IaaS and Microsoft 365.
• Maintain data and system integrity with BCP/DR testing.
• Act as escalation point for Wintel issues and incident management.

• Create and maintain technical documentation and guides.

Job description

We are seeking a skilled Wintel Engineer to provide technical support and manage Microsoft Windows environments across on-premises, private cloud and public cloud platforms. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining system availability, security, performance and compliance while troubleshooting complex technical issues and supporting business-critical IT services.

Key Responsibilities

• Work UK shifts in a hybrid working model, from the office as required.
• Manage and maintain Windows and x86 services across public cloud, private cloud and on-premises environments, including physical and virtual infrastructure.
• Manage identity services, including Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, SecureEnvoy, DNS, DHCP and RADIUS.
• Administer Azure, AWS and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) environments, including IaaS and Microsoft 365 services.
• Maintain data and system integrity across multi-cloud environments, ensuring Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and Disaster Recovery (DR) platforms are regularly maintained and tested.
• Act as a technical escalation point for Wintel issues, troubleshooting complex incidents and supporting incident management.
• Maintain management information (MI) reporting and ensure incident follow-up actions are completed on time.
• Ensure systems comply with internal security policies, external regulations and client accreditation requirements.
• Perform Windows operating system maintenance, patching, updates and security remediation.
• Create and maintain accurate technical documentation, troubleshooting guides and operational procedures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams to resolve complex technical issues.
• Own and maintain process documentation across multiple technical disciplines.
• Manage configuration, release and performance processes, ensuring accurate Configuration Management Database (CMDB) records and service management toolsets.
• Manage encryption solutions, including Thales KeySecure and CipherTrust.
• Administer VMware virtualisation platforms, including Site Recovery Manager (SRM), alongside Hyper-V environments.
• Manage and maintain Citrix infrastructure.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

• At least 5 years of relevant experience in Wintel engineering, Windows infrastructure support or a similar role.
• Proven experience managing public cloud environments across Azure, AWS and OCI.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft technologies and Microsoft 365 services in hybrid environments.
• Strong hands-on scripting skills using PowerShell.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to lead technical incident resolution across multiple teams.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to operate at SFIA Level 3.

Preferred Qualifications

• Microsoft and/or cloud certifications, such as MCSE or AZ-900.
• Experience with virtualisation technologies, including VMware and Hyper-V.
• Experience with x86 infrastructure, including Dell VxRail, HPE ProLiant and Cisco UCS, across hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) and three-tier architectures.
• Experience with ITIL processes and IT service management practices.

Preferred Technical Skills

• Experience as a Senior Windows Support Engineer or in a similar infrastructure support role.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server operating systems.
• Hands-on experience with VMware, including Site Recovery Manager (SRM), and Citrix technologies.
• Familiarity with Active Directory, Group Policy and network protocols.
• Strong incident management, troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
