Job summary

Allegion India is seeking an AI-first Front-End / CMS Developer with ~3 years of hands-on experience to design and build front-end components for Allegion’s multi-tier web environment in Bengaluru.

You will work with an enterprise CMS (AEM, WordPress VIP, or similar) to integrate AI into content and commerce workflows, improving personalization and editorial efficiency across teams and regions.

Qualifications

• Around 3 years of professional web development experience.
• 1+ years with an Enterprise CMS (AEM, WordPress VIP, or equivalent).
• Familiar with templating engines and front-end build toolchains.
• Comfortable with Git workflows and basic CI/CD practices.
• Interest or hands-on exposure to AI tools (LLMs, content enrichment, embeddings).

Responsibilities

• Develop scalable, performant front-end UI components and contribute to a shared pattern library.
• Implement AI-assisted features in CMS workflows with editors retaining control.
• Combine CMS content with commerce and telemetry for dynamic content and experiments.
• Implement client-, edge-, and server-side approaches to reduce latency and maintain Core Web Vitals.

About the role:

We are seeking an AI-first Front-End / CMS Developer with around 3 years of hands-on experience to design and build front-end components for Allegion’s multi-tier web environment. The ideal candidate combines solid front-end skills with practical experience on an enterprise CMS (AEM, WordPress VIP, or similar) and an interest in integrating AI capabilities into content and commerce workflows to improve personalization, editorial efficiency, and site experiences.

Key responsibilities:

• Develop scalable, performant front-end UI components and contribute to a shared pattern library.
• Implement AI-assisted features in CMS workflows under guidance (smart suggestions, metadata enrichment, basic content generation templates), ensuring editors retain control.
• Combine CMS-authored content with commerce and telemetry signals to support dynamic content slots and simple personalization experiments.
• Implement client-, edge-, and server-side approaches (CDN caching, basic edge functions) to keep latency low and preserve Core Web Vitals.
• Integrate with GraphQL/REST APIs to fetch catalog, pricing and content data and handle basic client-side data binding and caching patterns.
• Follow team coding standards, participate in code reviews, write unit/functional tests and help maintain CI/CD pipelines.
• Work with product, UX and backend teams across regions to implement features, fix bugs and support releases.
• Follow AI governance and security guidelines set by the team: prompt/version control basics, data minimization, and privacy handling for customer data.

Required technical skills and experience:

• ~3 years total professional experience in web development.
• 1+ years’ experience working with an Enterprise CMS or high-performance CMS platform (AEM, WordPress VIP, or equivalent).
• Familiarity with templating engines (Handlebars, Mustache or similar) and front-end build toolchains (Node.js, npm/yarn).
• Comfortable with Git workflows and basic CI/CD practices.
• Demonstrated interest or hands-on exposure to AI tools (LLM APIs, content enrichment, semantic search, or embeddings) — can be project work, integrations, or proofs-of-concept.

AI-specific expectations:

• Basic understanding of LLMs, embeddings/RAG patterns and when to apply them versus deterministic services.
• Ability to integrate third-party AI APIs responsibly: implement caching, rate-limiting, and simple prompts; follow team guidance on cost/latency trade-offs.
• Awareness of AI safety concepts: PII handling, hallucination mitigation basics, and versioning of prompts/models.

Nice to have:

• Hands-on experience with Adobe AEM (including AEM as a Cloud Service) or WordPress VIP.
• Experience with vector DBs (Pinecone, Milvus, Weaviate) or RAG toolkits.
• Experience with CDN/edge platforms (Fastly, Akamai, Cloudflare Workers) or serverless functions.
• Familiarity with analytics/personalization tools (Adobe Analytics, Adobe Target) and RUM tooling.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams and collaborating with distributed teams.
