Job summary

Citi in Chennai is seeking a Business Analytics Analyst to turn operational data into actionable insights. You will gather data, analyze trends, and develop dashboards for stakeholders in USCC WFM, Customer Service, and Wealth Ops MIS, enabling informed decisions and process improvements.

You will work with Tableau-based visualizations, SQL data extraction, and Python/SSIS automation, contributing to data quality and performance reporting while collaborating across teams.

Qualifications

• SAS/SQL and 2-4 years of experience.
• Proficient in data management principles and SQL for extraction/manipulation.
• Ability to develop clear dashboards and performance metrics (Tableau).
• Strong communication to translate analytics to business partners.

Operations MIS Team

The Operations MIS team focuses on creating reports, dashboards, and performance metrics to provide actionable insights for various business functions, including USCC WFM & Customer Service, Customer Complaints reporting and Wealth Ops MIS. They are responsible for building and maintaining datamarts, migrating legacy BI tools to modern platforms like Tableau, and automating data refreshes for dashboards. They aim to empower business stakeholders with accurate and timely information for strategic decision‑making. Their work also supports capacity planning and issue remediation efforts.

Business Analytics Analyst

Is a developing professional role. Applies specialty area knowledge in monitoring, assessing, analyzing and/or evaluating processes and data. Identifies policy gaps and formulates policies. Interprets data and makes recommendations. Researches and interprets factual information. Identifies inconsistencies in data or results, defines business issues and formulates recommendations on policies, procedures or practices. Integrates established disciplinary knowledge within own specialty area with basic understanding of related industry practices. Good understanding of how the team interacts with others in accomplishing the objectives of the area. Develops working knowledge of industry practices and standards. Limited but direct impact on the business through the quality of the tasks/services provided. Impact of the job holder is restricted to own team.

Responsibilities

• Gather operational data from various cross functional stakeholders to examine past business performance
• Identify data patterns & trends, and provide insights to enhance business decision making capability in business planning, process improvement, solution assessment etc.
• Recommend actions for future developments & strategic business opportunities, as well as enhancements to operational policies.
• May be involved in exploratory data analysis, confirmatory data analysis and/or qualitative analysis.
• Translate data into consumer or customer behavioral insights to drive targeting and segmentation strategies, and communicate findings clearly and effectively to business partners and senior leaders.
• Continuously improve processes and strategies by exploring and evaluating new data sources, tools, and capabilities.
• Work closely with internal and external business partners in building, implementing, tracking and improving decision strategies.
• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Experience

Skills and Exposure

• Data Management & SQL: Expertise in data management principles, SQL programming for data extraction and manipulation, and database management systems.
• Reporting & Dashboard Development: Proficiency in developing reports, dashboards, and performance metrics using reporting tools and data visualization techniques. Ability to create clear and concise visualizations (using Tableau) of key data.
• Communication & Stakeholder Management: Ability to effectively communicate technical information to non‑technical stakeholders or senior partners and collaborate with business partners to understand reporting requirements.
• Automation & Scripting: Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python) and automation tools (e.g., SSIS) for automating report generation, data refreshes, and other routine tasks and leverage AI tools.

Education

• Bachelors/University degree or equivalent experience
