Job summary

Barclays is seeking a Vice President to lead Tech Risk & Cyber, based in Pune. The role focuses on assessing the integrity and effectiveness of internal controls to mitigate operational, financial, and reputational risk.

You will collaborate with business units to document control assessments and findings, identify weaknesses, and drive remediation aligned to policy and regulatory standards. Strong leadership and strategic thinking are essential.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in governance, risk reporting, control oversight, and assurance activities.
  • Strong understanding of Cybersecurity, Technology Risk, and Operational Resiliency standards and frameworks.
  • Experience managing and interpreting risk and control metrics including KPIs, KRIs, KCIs.
  • Proven ability to identify cyber risks, assess control weaknesses, and support remediation activities.
  • Ability to leverage modern AI tools and automation to improve productivity and reporting.
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.

Job Description

Purpose of the role

To assess the integrity and effectiveness of the banks internal control framework to support the mitigation of risk and protection of the banks operational, financial, and reputational risk.

Accountabilities

  • Knowledge of business areas, products, processes and platforms to be able to assess risk
  • Collaboration with various stakeholders across the bank and business units to improve overall control effectiveness through detailed documentation of control assessments, procedures, and findings.
  • Identification and investigation of potential weaknesses and issues within internal controls to promote continuous improvement and risk mitigation aligned to the bank’s control framework, prioritised by its severity to disrupt bank operations.
  • Development of reports to communicate key findings from risk assessment including control weaknesses and recommendations to control owners, senior management, and other stakeholders.
  • Execution of reviews to determine the effectiveness of the bank’s internal controls framework aligned to established and evolving policies, regulation, and best practice.
  • Implementation of adherence to the Barclays Controls Framework and set appropriate methodology of assessing controls against the Controls Framework.

  • Proven ability to proactively identify cyber risks, assess control weaknesses, and support remediation activities.

  • Ability to leverage modern AI tools and automation capabilities to improve productivity, reporting, and operational effectiveness.

  • Strong stakeholder management, influencing, and relationship-building capabilities.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical and risk-related concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Additional relevant skills given below are highly valued:
  • Good understanding of Wealth Management, Private Banking, Investment Banking, or Financial Services operating environments.

  • Knowledge of industry risk and security frameworks.

  • Experience working within Cybersecurity, Technology Risk, Operational Risk, Controls, or Resilience functions in a global financial institution.

  • Strong coordination and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively within a small team supporting a complex and highly regulated function.
