Job Title: VP — Procurement

The Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager will develop and execute category and supply base strategies and sourcing projects in assigned categories to deliver defined country annual targets by driving competitive advantage for the HSBC business through cost savings, lifecycle value generation, demand management and innovation. The projects will be delivered globally or locally in accordance with the category strategy plans and will leverage the full range of supply and demand-side levers. In-depth sourcing knowledge will be applied in the execution of these plans across all category areas whilst ensuring the risks associated with the purchase of goods and services are mitigated commercially, contractually and operationally. It is expected that post contract value opportunities will be identified and delivered through working with business supplier managers and the local supply base making sure that these opportunities align with category strategies at all times. The role will primarily focus on Corporate Real Estate Services category and is likely work across other variety of categories such as Professional Services & Consulting, Workforce category, HR Services, Marketing, Legal, Events, Insurance, etc. so will need to demonstrate a broad range of category knowledge and be able to work dynamically and flexibly with a broad range of SMEs. The role will work with a variety of stakeholders and business partners requiring proactive engagement and fostering of existing and new relationships. In this role, you will:

• Drive the right business outcomes with advanced subject matter expertise during the execution of projects. Support the local business in ensuring that the outputs of sourcing projects are embedded in the business to drive value through the contract lifecycle. Ensure maximum contractual protection for the business, taking into account the Procurement Handbook requirements and local regulatory issues. Ensure that businesses have operational accountability for contracts after execution and work with the Third-Party Risk Management team to drive appropriate deployment of the supplier relationship and risk management framework. Provide robust reports on progress against targets, Preferred Supplier List and buying channel compliance.
• In the execution of sourcing projects, instil a responsive and strategic service and delivery culture, which makes business stakeholders value Procurement. Lead the application of a range of sourcing approaches, including the use of eSourcing, to deliver the most appropriate business outcomes. Influence the business and act as pathfinder for business (including Legal) and supply market relationships. Develop and execute local category strategies aligned with global category plans The category plans will be robust and forward-looking based on business and product needs, supply market dynamics, and technological changes in marketplace. Foster and build relationships with key stakeholders and business partners as relevant to the role.
• Demonstrate importance of advanced subject matter expertise through example. Market and communicate appropriate category guidelines to the business. Act as a change agent for the Procurement Transformation and beyond into future change initiatives. Drive embedding of best practices and compliance to all Source to Pay processes through personal performance.
• Achieve or exceed agreed savings target for sourcing projects and categories. Lead negotiation and agreement of terms and conditions for all projects. Manage all initiatives to a robust plan in alignment with business/process milestones. Understand complex business problems, apply advanced analytical thinking / market knowledge and drive the most appropriate business outcome. Ensure project data (savings, pipeline, milestones, risks, and issues and all other appropriate data sources) is accurate and reflective of reality.Drive the usage of a variety of Procurement tools and manage an interface with offshore support teams. Demonstrate adherence to internal controls. This will be achieved by adherence to all relevant procedures, keeping appropriate records and, where appropriate, by the timely implementation of internal and external audit points, including issues raised by external regulators.
• Managing complex stakeholder relationship: Balancing the diverse and often conflicting priorities of internal stakeholders requires advanced negotiation, communication and influencing skills. Maintaining alignment across global teams while ensuring compliance with regulatory and procurement frameworks adds complexity. Navigating Regulatory and compliances pressures. Leading sourcing transformation initiatives (e.g., digital procurement, supplier innovation, sustainability) demands change leadership and strategic foresight.
• As the Vice President — Strategic Sourcing, the role operates in a highly dynamic, complex, and regulated environment. The sourcing landscape is influenced by evolving global market conditions, increasing regulatory scrutiny, rising stakeholder expectations, and accelerating digital transformation. The role holder is responsible for leading category strategy development and execution across a multi-million dollar global spend portfolio. Operating at the intersection of commercial, regulatory, and operational priorities, the role demands a sophisticated balance of strategic vision, commercial rigor, and stakeholder influence.
• The role holder is expected to operate with significant autonomy and decision-making authority, while ensuring strict adherence to HSBC’s governance, third-party risk management, and procurement policies. There is limited day-to-day guidance, with the expectation that the role holder will proactively shape sourcing strategies, lead high-value negotiations, resolve complex sourcing challenges, and drive innovation in supplier engagement.
• Ensuring compliance with all relevant FIMs, including Third Party Risk Management (TPRM), Outsourcing, Records Management, guidelines, Functional SOP’s and Conduct Risk guidelines. Proactively identifying operational, financial, reputational, and conduct risks associated with third-party engagements, particularly in high-risk service categories such as consultancy and workforce. Embedding controls throughout the sourcing lifecycle—from supplier due diligence and onboarding to contract execution, ongoing performance monitoring, and exit planning. Collaborating closely with Risk, Legal, Compliance, and Internal Audit teams to ensure sourcing strategies align with both internal policies and external regulatory expectations. Championing risk awareness across the supply chain and driving a culture of risk-informed decision making within the sourcing function and among stakeholders.
• Ensuring full compliance with relevant FIMs, including but not limited to: Third Party Risk Management (TPRM). Outsourcing and Procurement Policies. Compliance to Anti-Bribery and Corruption (AB&C). Records Management. Embedding control checks and governance gates across the end-to-end sourcing process—from strategic planning through to contract execution and supplier management. Driving policy adherence through consistent documentation, transparent decision-making, and timely approvals within sourcing platforms and internal control systems. Participating in internal reviews and audits, providing clear evidence of control effectiveness and taking ownership for timely remediation of identified issues.

• Spend Responsibility: Accountable for managing a global sourcing portfolio with the spend of USD $250-300M spend annually across Real Estate Services, Professional Services, Consultancy, and Workforce categories. Independently manage any projects that value exceeds $1M USD.
• Contract Volume: Oversees the strategic sourcing and ongoing management of hundreds of supplier contracts, including global framework agreements, master service agreements, and high-risk consultancy engagements.
• Transaction Complexity: Leads sourcing for both tactical and highly strategic engagements, often involving multi-geography and cross-functional stakeholder alignment, regulatory impact, and high reputational sensitivity.
• Governance Oversight: Responsible for ensuring compliance with internal governance frameworks across all sourcing activities, including competitive tendering, supplier due diligence, risk assessment, and contractual approval processes.
• Budget Influence: Provides strategic input into category-level budget planning and optimization, influencing workforce and consulting expenditure decisions at both global and regional levels.
• Stakeholder Reach: Engages with Group-level senior executives, including HR, Finance, Risk, Legal, Compliance, and Business Unit Heads, across multiple geographies and time zones.
