Job Description

Finance Technology is seeking a Vice President to lead the data and engineering capability supporting Fund Accounting. Based in Mumbai, this individual will partner closely with Fund Accounting, Enterprise Data, Automation & Reporting, and other technology teams to deliver scalable, controlled, and reliable data solutions.

The ideal candidate brings a strong combination of Fund Accounting and Fund Finance domain expertise and significant hands‑on data and engineering experience. This individual should understand how fund accounting data is created, transformed, reconciled, controlled, reported, and consumed, and have the technical depth to lead the target‑state design and delivery of data pipelines, transformations, data models, reconciliation frameworks, and reporting solutions. This is a hands‑on leadership role. The VP will lead a Mumbai‑based team of Data Solution Engineers and Data Analysts while remaining engaged in solution design, technical decision‑making, and complex data problem‑solving.

Primary Functions and Essential Responsibilities

• Finance & Fund Accounting Data Leadership Lead the data capability supporting Fund Accounting and Fund Finance, with responsibility for delivering reliable, scalable, and well‑controlled data solutions. Partner closely with Fund Accounting and Fund Finance stakeholders and the Finance Tech team to translate business needs into clear data requirements and technical solutions. Provide strong functional leadership across fund accounting data, including NAVs, balances, transactions, capital activity, allocations, fees, waterfalls, financial reporting, reference data, and reconciliations. Partner with Enterprise Data, Reporting, and other technology teams to establish effective engineering practices, delivery alignment, and clear technical accountability across shared solutions.
• Data Solutions Engineering & Technical Leadership Provide hands‑on technical leadership across the design, build, testing, deployment, and support of Fund Accounting data solutions. Define technology target‑state architecture and technical design aligned with enterprise architecture and standards. Provide technical depth to review and challenge solution designs, data models, SQL and Python/PySpark implementations, and participate directly in complex troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis. Drive strong engineering practices across testing, CI/CD, observability, performance, resiliency, documentation, lineage, and production support. Identify opportunities to automate manual Finance processes and convert recurring data and reconciliation challenges into scalable solutions.
• Enterprise Data & Reporting Partnership Partner closely with Enterprise Data Engineering to leverage enterprise platforms, pipelines, governed data products, and engineering standards. Partner with Data Governance to establish appropriate data ownership, quality standards, lineage, and controls. Ensure Fund Accounting data is appropriately structured, controlled, and reliable for downstream consumption across reporting, analytics, extracts, and applications. Partner with centralized Reporting / BI teams, with the Fund Accounting data capability responsible for business/data requirements and reporting‑ready data, and Reporting / BI responsible for technical report and dashboard development.
• Team & Delivery Leadership Build, lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing Mumbai‑based team of Data Solution Engineers and Data Analysts, including hiring, capability development, and succession planning. Own delivery of Fund Accounting data initiatives from requirements and solution design through implementation, testing, release, and production stabilization. Establish a high bar for technical quality, analytical rigor, controls, documentation, and operational ownership. Build strong partnerships across Finance, Technology, fund administrators, vendors, and global teams.

Qualifications

• Education Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience Required 10+ years of relevant experience across data engineering, Finance Technology, Fund Accounting Technology, or related roles within asset management or financial services.
• Fund Accounting Expertise Strong functional knowledge of Fund Accounting and Fund Finance, including fund structures, NAVs, investor accounting, capital activity, allocations, fees, waterfalls, reconciliations, and financial reporting processes.
• Data Engineering Proficiency Significant hands‑on data engineering experience, including advanced SQL and strong experience with Databricks/Snowflake, Python/PySpark, ETL/ELT, data modeling, data pipelines, APIs, and modern cloud data platforms.
• Data Quality & Reconciliation Experience implementing data‑quality, reconciliation, validation, monitoring, lineage, and control frameworks for financial data.
• Platform Integration Experience with fund or investor accounting platforms such as Geneva, Investran, or comparable solutions and data integration with third‑party fund administrators.
• Enterprise Architecture Experience working within enterprise data architecture and partnering effectively with centralized Data Engineering, Data Governance, and Reporting functions.
• Leadership & Stakeholder Management Demonstrated experience leading and developing engineers and analysts while remaining technically engaged in solution design and complex problem‑solving. Strong communication and stakeholder‑management skills, with the ability to operate effectively across Finance and Technology audiences.
