VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 9.0 Migration Architect – VVF to VCF
We are seeking a VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 9.0 Migration Expert / Architect to lead and govern enterprise‑scale migrations from VMware vSphere Foundation (VVF) to VMware Cloud Foundation 9.0. This role owns end‑to‑end architecture, migration strategy, factory design, and execution governance, ensuring zero disruption, security compliance, and business continuity. The architect will work closely with CxOs, platform engineering, security, and operations teams to position VCF as a strategic private cloud platform, not just a technical upgrade.

- Architecture & Strategy
- Define VVF → VCF 9.0 target architecture, including SDDC Manager, NSX (overlay & underlay integration), vSAN & storage policy design, identity, RBAC, and security architecture.
- Design standardized migration blueprints for brownfield and hybrid environments.
- Establish VCF 9 landing zones aligned to enterprise and regulated workloads.
- Migration Planning & Execution
- Lead VVF to VCF 9 migration assessments, dependency mapping, and risk analysis.
- Define wave‑based migration plans with rollback strategies.
- Drive migrations covering compute, storage, networking, vCenter consolidation, NSX‑V/NSX‑T to NSX (as applicable).
- Ensure near‑zero or zero downtime migrations for Tier‑1 workloads.
- VCF 9 Migration Factory Model
- Design and operationalize a VCF 9 Migration Factory, including repeatable runbooks and automation.
- Integrate toolchain (VMware & third‑party) for pre‑checks, cutover, and post‑migration validation.
- Define factory KPIs (velocity, success rate, risk reduction, cost efficiency).
- Operations & Day‑2 Readiness
- Align migrations with day‑2 operations, monitoring, backup, DR, and patching.
- Integrate VCF with ITSM, CMDB, and observability platforms.
- Enable platform‑as‑a‑service consumption models for internal customers.
- Stakeholder & Governance
- Act as a trusted advisor to CxOs and cloud steering committees.
- Translate technical migration outcomes into business value (cost, agility, risk).
- Govern vendors, SIs, and internal teams during large programs.
Required Skills & Experience
Core Technical Skills
- 10–15+ years in VMware infrastructure and private cloud architecture.
- Deep hands‑on experience with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF 4.x/5.x, with readiness for 9.0), vSphere, vSAN, NSX, and SDDC Manager lifecycle workflows.
- Proven experience migrating from VVF → VCF and vSphere‑only environments to full‑stack VCF.
- Strong understanding of network segmentation & security (micro‑segmentation), storage policy‑based management, and identity federation & access controls.
Automation & Tools
- Experience with PowerCLI, APIs, Infrastructure as Code.
- Exposure to Aria Suite (vRealize) or equivalent automation platforms.
- Familiarity with migration and discovery tools.
Enterprise & Leadership Skills
- Experience leading large, multi‑region enterprise migrations.
- Strong design authority and governance mindset.
- Ability to communicate architecture decisions to CxOs and non‑technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- VMware certifications (VCP, VCAP, VCDX preferred).
- Experience with regulated industries (BFSI, healthcare, telco).
- Exposure to hybrid cloud integrations (AWS, Azure, GCP with VMware).
- Experience building Cloud Centers of Excellence (CCoE).
