Job summary

NTT DATA North America is seeking a VMware HCX Migration Engineer to plan, execute, and support workload migrations across on-premises and cloud environments from Noida, India. You will coordinate with network, storage, and cloud teams to ensure minimal downtime and reliable post-migration validation.

The ideal candidate brings 2–5 years in virtualization, hands-on HCX experience, and strong scripting skills with PowerCLI, Bash, or Python to automate tasks and runbooks.

Qualifications

• Weeks 2-5 years of experience in virtualization and cloud migration.
• Hands-on with VMware HCX across on-premises and cloud environments.
• Strong understanding of networking concepts (VLAN, VPN, routing, firewalls).

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute VM migrations using VMware HCX (vMotion, Bulk Migration, Cold Migration, Replication Assisted vMotion).
• Deploy, configure, and manage VMware HCX components (Manager, Interconnect, WAN Optimization, Network Extension).
• Perform assessment and discovery of workloads for migration readiness.
• Handle L2 network extension and minimize downtime during migration.
• Troubleshoot migration issues and optimize performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (network, storage, cloud).
• Validate post-migration workloads and ensure application functionality.
• Maintain documentation for migration plans, runbooks, and execution reports.
• Support DR and rollback strategies during migration.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled VMware & HCX Migration Engineer with 2-5 years of experience in virtualization and cloud migration. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, executing, and supporting workload migrations using VMware HCX across on-premises and cloud environments (such as VMware Cloud on AWS, Azure VMware Solution, or GCVE).

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and execute VM migrations using VMware HCX (vMotion, Bulk Migration, Cold Migration, Replication Assisted vMotion)
• Deploy, configure, and manage VMware HCX components (Manager, Interconnect, WAN Optimization, Network Extension)
• Perform assessment and discovery of workloads for migration readiness

Required Skills:

• Strong experience in VMware vSphere (ESXi, vCenter)
• Hands-on experience with VMware HCX migrations
• Good understanding of networking concepts (VLAN, VPN, routing, firewalls)
• Experience with cloud platforms (VMware Cloud on AWS / Azure VMware Solution / GCP)
• Knowledge of migration strategies and tools
• Familiarity with NSX (preferred but not mandatory)
• Basic scripting knowledge (PowerCLI / Bash / Python) is a plus

Qualifications:

• VMware certifications (VCP-DCV preferred)
• HCX deployment or migration experience is a strong advantage

Nice to Have:

• Experience with multi-cloud migrations
• Knowledge of disaster recovery solutions (SRM, Zerto, etc.)
• Exposure to automation and infrastructure-as-code
