Vice President – Software Engineering

Penguin Solutions, a Nasdaq-listed AI platform company, is seeking a Vice President of Software Engineering to lead and grow our ClusterWare Development organization in India. This executive will report directly to the Chief Product Officer and will be responsible for building and scaling a high‑performing engineering organization focused on cluster management software, orchestration, and platform services that underpin our HPC and AI infrastructure offerings.

Job Overview

The role combines technical leadership, organizational scaling, and product alignment. The VP will drive innovation in cluster provisioning, workload orchestration, monitoring, and lifecycle management while partnering closely with global engineering, product, and customer‑facing teams.

Responsibilities

• Build, lead, and inspire a world‑class software engineering organization.
• Scale engineering operations while maintaining agility and execution excellence.
• Establish best practices for software architecture, development, testing, and release management.
• Drive high‑quality, scalable, secure software delivery aligned with enterprise and HPC standards.
• Oversee integration with HPC schedulers (e.g., Slurm), Kubernetes, AI/ML orchestration frameworks, and cloud ecosystems.
• Drive innovation in hybrid/cloud‑native cluster management solutions.
• Partner with Product Management to align engineering priorities with customer needs and business strategy.
• Drive adoption of AI coding, CI/CD, DevOps practices, and modern engineering tools.
• Ensure compliance with security, data privacy, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics & Communication, or a related engineering discipline from a recognized university or institution.
• Experience with technologies such as Linux/Unix systems, distributed computing frameworks, and scalable software development.
• Demonstrated ability to drive large‑scale, complex software programs.
• Strong business acumen with the ability to align engineering with product and revenue goals.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with hybrid cloud environments and edge computing.
• Prior experience in platform or systems software companies.
• Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
