Vessel Performance Operations (Hull) Specialist

Based in Mumbai, India

Overview: As part of the Vessel Performance team, you will be primarily responsible for managing hull performance and biofouling while supporting wider fleet performance initiatives. The role is hands-on, requiring strong operational and analytical skills to ensure vessel efficiency, regulatory compliance, and cost-effective hull maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor hull condition across the fleet and recommend inspections, grooming, and antifouling runs.
  
• Track long-stay vessels and plan timely hull actions.
  
• Arrange and oversee hull cleaning, inspections (UWI/C), and grooming operations to meet performance and compliance standards.
  
• Ensure compliance with NZ/MPI/AU biofouling regulations and maintain validity for hull loggers.
  
• Verify invoices against work scope and monitor vendor service quality.
  
• Provide operational advice to Chartering and Operations on hull cleaning availability, costs, and drydock/inspection history.
  
• Support legal cases by providing evidence for hull fouling disputes.
  
• Collaborate with fleet performance colleagues in Mumbai and Dubai on broader vessel efficiency initiatives.
  

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Marine Engineering or related field of study.
  
• Prior sailing experience as 2nd Officer or 3rd Engineer with minimum 12 months sailing experience; OR
  
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in the shipping industry, ideally with exposure to hull management, vessel performance, or technical operations.
  
• At least 3 to 5 years shore-based experience in fleet performance / technical operations with strong understanding of vessel operations, hull performance, and compliance requirements.
  
• Good coordination and communication skills to liaise with internal teams, vendors, and service providers.
  
• Gain exposure to international fleet operations, reporting directly to the management in HQ.
