Job summary

Rickshaw Studios is seeking an experienced Senior Unreal Game Programmer to drive gameplay and mechanics for our title. You will define the technical vision, collaborate with designers and artists, and lead the programming team to deliver high-quality, performant systems.

You will mentor junior developers, review code, and contribute to process improvements, with a passion for gameplay engineering and hands-on mastery of Unreal Engine, Blueprints, and C++.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Proven experience as an Unreal Game Developer or similar role, with a strong portfolio.
• Extensive experience with Unreal Engine, C++, Blueprints, and core systems.
• Strong leadership and mentoring abilities to guide junior developers.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with game designers, artists, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements, gameplay mechanics, and technical specifications.
• Develop complex gameplay systems, mechanics, and features using Unreal Engine, ensuring they align with the project's vision and objectives.
• Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure code quality, performance, and maintainability.
• Collaborate with the technical team to solve complex technical challenges, optimize performance, and improve the overall quality of the game.
• Mentor and provide guidance to junior developers, fostering their growth and development in Unreal Engine and game development practices.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes, tools, and workflows, identifying opportunities for increased efficiency and productivity.

Preferred Skills

• Shipped at least one title on PC, console, or mobile platforms using Unreal Engine, with active involvement in the project for more than 6 months.
• Experience with version control systems (Perforce).
• Familiarity with agile development methodologies is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and a passion for delivering high-quality games.
