Job summary

EY’s GDS Tax Technology team in India seeks a Senior Data Engineer to build and optimize data solutions on the Azure data stack. You will develop backend data processes, manage data ingestion and modeling, and contribute to a scalable data platform for tax services.

You’ll work closely with partners, clients and tax experts to deliver robust data architectures, pipelines and reports, enabling faster insights and better decision making across the EY tax practice.

Qualifications

• Strong backend DB programming using SQL Server/Azure SQL.
• Experience with stored procedures, views, triggers, cursors, and UDFs.
• Data Warehouse Architecture and Enterprise Data Design Principles.
• Microsoft Fabric knowledge including lakehouse, data warehousing, OneLake.
• ETL pipeline design and data ingestion/transformation on Azure data services.
• Data engineering and performance optimization: design and optimize DBs, build ETL packages, data-layer components.

As a member of EY's core Tax practice, you'll develop a deep tax technical knowledge and outstanding database, data analytics and programming skills.

Ever-increasing regulations require tax departments to gather, organize and analyse more data than ever before. Often the data necessary to satisfy these ever-increasing and complex regulations must be collected from a variety of systems and departments throughout an organization. Effectively and efficiently handling the variety and volume of data is often extremely challenging and time consuming for a company.

EY's GDS Tax Technology team members work side-by-side with the firm's partners, clients and tax technical subject matter experts to develop and incorporate technology solutions that enhance value-add, improve efficiencies and enable our clients with disruptive and market leading tools supporting Tax.

GDS Tax Technology works closely with clients and professionals in the following areas: Federal Business Tax Services, Partnership Compliance, Corporate Compliance, Indirect Tax Services, Human Capital, and Internal Tax Services. GDS Tax Technology provides solution architecture, application development, testing and maintenance support to the global TAX service line both on a pro-active basis and in response to specific requests.

EY is currently seeking a Data Engineer - Senior to join our Tax Technology practice in India.

Key Responsibilities

• Strong database programming/ backend development experience using SQL Server/Azure SQL, writing complex queries, stored procedures, views, triggers, cursors, UDFs.
• Strong Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Datawarehouse concepts.
• Experience with the Azure Data Platform (Azure Data factory/ Databricks) is an added advantage.
• Experience on Azure data platform offerings
• Ability to effectively communicate with other team members and stakeholders
• Strong verbal and written communications skills.

Qualification & Experience Required

Mandatory Skillset - TTT SQL Fabric (Tax Senior / Architect Track)

4 to 7 Years

• Strong database programming and backend development experience using SQL Server / Azure SQL.

2. Data Modelling & Data Warehousing

• Strong understanding of:
• Data Warehouse Architecture

• Lakehouse architecture
• Data Warehousing
• OneLake

4. ETL / Data Integration

• Experience with:
• ETL pipeline design and implementation
• Data ingestion and transformation frameworks
• Experience across Azure data services and platform offerings.
• Understanding of cloud-native data architecture and deployment patterns.

6. Data Engineering & Performance Optimization

Ability to:

• Design and optimize databases
• Build ETL packages
• Develop data-layer components for new and existing systems
