Job Description: Life Insurance Trainer (State / Zonal Level) - Location: Mumbai & Bhopal - 2 positions

Role Title: Life Insurance Training - Manager

Department: Sales Training / Learning & Development (L&D) - SFL Marketing in SLIC Roles.

Reporting To: CMO Experience Band: 4 to 10 years (preferably in Life Insurance Sales Training / Distribution Enablement).

Role Purpose

To drive capability building and performance enhancement of sales teams across multiple channels (Agency, Partners, Direct & Broking) within the assigned State or Zone. The role ensures salesforce productivity through effective onboarding, product training, behavioural skills development, and ongoing performance coaching aligned to organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities
1. Training Delivery & Facilitation
  • Conduct induction, product, process, and skill-based training programs for new and existing sales personnel across channels.
  • Facilitate classroom, virtual, and on-the-job training sessions, ensuring consistent learning experience and knowledge retention.
  • Deploy behavioural and consultative selling programs to improve advisor and front-line manager effectiveness.
  • Reinforce training through field coaching and joint calls with sales managers and agents.
2. Training Need Identification & Planning
  • Collaborate with Sales Heads / Cluster Managers to identify performance gaps and training needs based on productivity and business metrics.
  • Develop and execute a Monthly (or) Quarterly Training Calendar aligned with business priorities and national L&D roadmap.
  • Use field insights to suggest content localization or new modules relevant to regional market realities.
3. Content & Program Management
  • Customize and translate central training content for local language and regional applicability.
  • Support development of micro-learning, role-play, and case-study-based content to enhance practical learning outcomes.
  • Maintain training MIS, feedback, and reports for continuous improvement.
4. Performance Support & Coaching
  • Partner with line managers to implement on-the-job coaching frameworks.
  • Track training effectiveness through pre- and post-assessments, certification scores, and sales productivity trends.
  • Provide individual coaching to underperformers and skill acceleration support for high-potential team members.
5. Stakeholder Management
  • Liaise with Sales, HR, and Channel Heads to align training with business goals and sales priorities.
  • Ensure high training participation, completion and My Coach’ certification compliance across the region.
  • Act as the L&D ambassador within the zone to drive learning culture adoption.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • % of New Hires Trained and Certified within TAT
  • Improvement in Productivity Metrics (e.g., Case Count, FYP, Activation %) post-training
  • Training Feedback / NPS Scores
  • Training Coverage vs. Plan
  • Post-Training Performance uplift for trained cohorts
  • Stakeholder Satisfaction (Sales Head / Channel Head feedback)
Candidate Profile
Education
  • Graduate / Post-Graduate (preferred in Business, Commerce, or HR)
  • Insurance certifications (LIII / IRDA License / Training Certifications) are advantageous
Experience
  • 4–10 years of experience in Life Insurance Sales Training, Distribution Development, or Field Coaching
  • Exposure to multiple channels (Agency / Bancassurance / Broking / Direct) preferred
  • Proven track record of training delivery and sales enablement across large geographies
