Job description

As a Power System Planning Engineer, you will be a key member of our Power Systems Energy & Utility Consulting Distribution planning team, contributing significantly to the growth of transmission and distribution activities. You will be responsible for developing and performing comprehensive power system studies and models for energy clients worldwide, covering aspects of power generation (both conventional and non‑conventional), transmission, distribution, and industrial systems. This role requires the application of advanced engineering techniques to solve complex problems in the transmission and distribution sectors.

Responsibilities
  • Perform advanced technical modeling and simulation of electrical power systems, including power flow studies, transient stability, dynamic studies, reactive compensation, and contingency analysis.
  • Utilize power system analysis tools such as CYME, Synergi, Windmill, and ETAP to carry out studies, including steady‑state, short‑circuit, reliability, and protection coordination.
  • Execute power system planning and analysis projects, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.
  • Develop and implement automation tools using Python and other software to streamline repetitive tasks involved in power system analysis and reporting.
  • Continuously improve modeling and data analysis processes by integrating new techniques and tools.
  • Provide clear and effective communication, presentations, and reports to clients and internal stakeholders, explaining complex technical concepts in an understandable manner.
  • Ensure all projects are compliant with relevant IEEE/NERC, IEC, and other international standards.
  • Oversee projects concurrently, coordinating with project managers and team members to ensure deliverables align with client needs and expectations.
  • Prepare project documentation, including reports, technical specifications, and procedures.
  • Stay updated with the latest technologies, trends, research, policies, and innovations in the energy and power systems sector, and contribute to the continuous improvement of internal processes.
  • Collaborate with international teams and clients across multiple time zones.
Qualifications
  • Master’s in electrical engineering (Power Systems) or Bachelor’s in electrical engineering.
  • 0–1 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders and present complex technical information clearly and concisely.

  • Flexible approach to work, with the ability to prioritize and manage time effectively to meet deadlines and client needs.
  • Proficiency with planning software such as CYME, Synergi, Windmill, and ETAP.
  • Up‑to‑date knowledge of IEEE/NERC, IEC, and other standards.
  • Ability to manage projects concurrently, including identification of critical path items to ensure delivery deadlines are met.
  • Experience in assisting with preparation of training materials and documentation for team members.
  • Knowledge of renewable energy integration, grid modernization, and emerging trends in the electric power sector is desirable.
