NTT DATA seeks an experienced Database QA / ETL Test Engineer to validate complex data pipelines and enterprise data warehouses in Pune. The role focuses on ensuring data accuracy and integrity across source-to-target transformations, with collaboration across Data Engineers, ETL Developers, and business teams.

The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience in SQL, data quality testing, and end-to-end ETL testing, and will participate in Agile ceremonies while supporting SIT, UAT, and production

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Database QA, ETL Testing, and Data Validation.
• 5+ years hands-on experience with SQL, complex queries, database testing, and data reconciliation.
• 4+ years testing ETL/ELT pipelines, source-to-target mappings, and data transformations.
• 3+ years data warehouse testing, data quality validation, and large-volume data processing.

Responsibilities

• Perform end-to-end Database and ETL testing across source and target systems.
• Validate ETL/ELT pipelines, transformation logic, mappings, and business rules.
• Develop complex SQL queries for data validation, reconciliation, and defect investigation.
• Perform source-to-target data validation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Validate large-volume data loads, batch processes, and scheduled ETL jobs.
• Conduct database testing including tables, views, stored procedures, functions, and data integrity.
• Validate data transformation rules, aggregations, calculations, and business logic.
• Perform data quality testing, including completeness, uniqueness, accuracy, referential integrity, and consistency checks.
• Develop and execute test plans, test cases, test scripts, and regression suites.
• Identify data discrepancies, perform root cause analysis, and collaborate with Data Engineers/ETL Developers to resolve defects.
• Perform backend validation for reports and downstream applications.
• Track and manage defects using Jira or similar tools.
• Support SIT, regression testing, UAT, and production validation.
• Prepare test execution reports, defect reports, traceability matrices, and quality metrics.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, requirement reviews, and release activities.

Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Database QA / ETL Test Engineer with strong hands‑on expertise in database testing, ETL validation, SQL, data reconciliation, and data quality testing. The ideal candidate should have experience validating complex data pipelines, source-to-target transformations, and enterprise data warehouse solutions.

The role will collaborate with Data Engineers, ETL Developers, Business Analysts, and application teams to ensure the accuracy, completeness, integrity, and reliability of data across enterprise systems.

Day to Day Job Duties

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience with data warehouse testing, data quality validation, and large-volume data processing.

• Databases: Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL or similar
• ETL Testing: Source-to-Target Validation, Transformation Testing, Reconciliation

• Data Warehouse: Dimensional Models, Fact/Dimension Tables, Data Marts
• Testing: SIT, Regression, Integration, UAT Support
• Defect Management: Jira, Azure DevOps or similar
• Methodologies: Agile, Scrum, SDLC, STLC

Nice to Have

• Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, BigQuery, or Azure Synapse.
• Experience with cloud ETL tools such as Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue, or Databricks.
• Knowledge of Python for data validation and test automation.
• Experience automating ETL and database testing.
• Knowledge of data warehouse concepts, dimensional modeling, SCD, and CDC.
• Experience validating batch and real-time/streaming data pipelines.
• Understanding of data quality, lineage, governance, and metadata management.
• Experience working with large and complex datasets.
• Experience with CI/CD and automated data testing.
• Experience in Banking, Financial Services, Insurance, Healthcare, or other enterprise environments.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
