Job summary

Al Jomaih Energy and Water (AEW) seeks a senior Technical Manager to lead the technical stream for wind project bids, development, and operation. You will coordinate bid development across business development, project finance and legal, and interface with OEMs and BOS contractors.

You bring 10+ years in wind energy, strong modelling skills (WAsP/WindPro) and an analytic, detail-oriented approach to ensure compliant, competitive solutions for global wind projects.

Qualifications

• Relevant electrical or mechanical engineering bachelor's or master's degree.
• 10+ years of wind energy experience in a similar role.
• Experience with WAsP/WindPro modelling and wake modelling desirable.
• Analytic mindset with ability to summarize complex topics concisely.
• Familiar with interfacing commercial and technical aspects of a project.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate all technical activities of bid development for wind projects across BD, project finance, and legal.
• Develop wind resource assessment, micro-siting, and layout based on topography and constraints.
• Select wind turbine technology and qualification based on standards for wind farm design and operation.
• Oversee long-term wind turbine service agreements and engage in EPC, BOP, and O&M contract tender process with due diligence.
• Lead technical input to bidding teams and define project technical assumptions.
• Interface with turbine OEMs and BOS contractors for competitive, compliant technical solutions.
• Analyze site measurement data (SCADA, Met Mast, SODAR/LiDAR) and perform wind flow modelling.
• Conduct due diligence on wind resource, energy yield, and site suitability; review OFM and availability modelling.

Your Job Functions (Duties & Responsibilities)

• Responsible for the technical stream and coordinate all technical activities of bid development catering to business development, project finance and legal
• Responsible for development of wind resource assessment, micro siting, constraint map based on topography and environmental and social constraints, layout and configuration, energy yield assessments based on constrain map and layout/configuration, Wake modelling and effects, Uncertainty assessments, BoP optimization
• Technical/Technology analysis and selection of WTG
• Qualification of WTG based on test certifications and compliances to ISO/IEC/IEEE standards for Wind Farm design and operation
• Responsible for the HoT, scope and services of long-term wind turbine service agreements. Engage in all the technical and techno-commercial aspects of EPC, BOP and O&M contract tender and negotiation processes in combination with undertaking due diligence activities on potential new development acquisitions
• Lead and provide technical input to bidding team and responsible for all the project technical assumptions
• Interface with Turbine OEMs and BOS Contractors to negotiate the most competitive and compliant technical solutions for the Bids
• Analysis and interpretation of site measurement data and production data, including SCADA, Met Mast, SODAR & LiDAR
• Modelling of wind flow using linear and non-linear wind flow models
• Due diligence analysis for wind resource, energy yield and project layout/site suitability analysis
• Performance review of operational sites
• Review and negotiate the technical Performance guarantees with OEMs and Contractors
• Development of Availability modelling, Aux power modelling
• Development of O&M budget

This is a client facing role that would suit a highly numerate individual with a diverse set of skills and the initiative to rise to a challenge.

Requirements

• Relevant electrical or mechanical engineering bachelor's or master's degree
• WAsP /Wind Pro modelling & Wake Modelling experience desirable,
• Knowledge of routine and periodic maintenance of WTG and BoP systems is desirable
• Wind farm O&M experience is desirable
• 10+ years of relevant experience in the Wind Energy industry in similar role
• Experience in Middle East and North Africa wind projects is desirable
• An analytic mindset with the ability to identify and summarize complex topics in a structured and concise way
• Familiar with the interface between commercial and technical aspects of a project. Comfortable in communicating within a techno-commercial environment
• Strong attention to detail and organization, ability to prioritize and meet demanding deadline
