Qualifications

Technical Project Manager

About Role:

Serving as a key Software Program Manager for the Device & Cloud Solutions business unit, the Technical Program Manager, is a senior technical leader who operates across all levels of the company. This role is pivotal in driving strategic software initiatives and product development, with a primary focus on championing and implementing new Agile software processes to enhance efficiency and innovation within the Business Unit.

This leader is responsible for guiding agile, cross-functional software teams through influence and expertise, ensuring tight coordination with Engineering and Product Management from initial concept through to deployment. Key responsibilities include meeting complex program goals for software performance, quality, and delivery. In close collaboration with Product Management and Engineering, they work to define software products, solidify business cases, and author product and experience specifications.

• Drive execution of solutions, inclusive of concept definition, requirements validation, architecture specification, and governance compliance to our Application Lifecycle Management framework.
• Team leadership for Agile cross-functional innovation teams. Contribute to and promote the development of agile skillset and capabilities within Zebra.
• Execute multiple simultaneously or a large program utilizing cross functional teams in numerous locations and time zones.
• Apply modern project management methodologies to ensure maximum project effectiveness. Identify and mitigate risks; develop and implement risk mitigation plans
• Partner with Product Managers on priority and Engineering or Technical Leads to execute the development plan, control risk and mitigate challenges.
• Drive execution of solutions, inclusive of concept definition, requirements validation, architecture specification, and governance compliance to our Application Lifecycle Management framework.
• Leads system integration planning, release management, and planning for demonstrations, proof of concepts and pilots.
• Leads cross functional workstreams and driving execution for business enablement, development and deployment.
• Independently building relationships and working across all relevant areas of the solution business, including Sales, Services, IT, Finance, Marketing, Product, Engineering, and Support.
• Organizes and presents business, technical, and program reviews/status to Senior Leadership using digital media, dashboards and JIRA agile project management tools
• Ensure alignment with key leaders of milestone achievement before moving the program forward.
• Recognized as an “expert” in the business function and processes in which the program is operating.
• Motivate a project team to ensure solutions are reliable and of quality, in a highly collaborative fashion.
• Demonstrates the ability to see cross-functional impacts of decisions and project plans, and execution. Balances scope, schedule and budget considerations to adjust the project with minimal impact to the business. Understands the business objectives of the program and assumes personal accountability for the success of the program against those objectives.
• Ensure accountability among team members while maintaining a balance between fostering strong relationships and achieving deliverables.
• Independently coordinates deliverables and project assets to assist the project Personally, anticipates and addresses obstacles or issues that are moderate to significant in severity and escalates complex issues to management for assistance. Engages additional resources as needed to address obstacles or delays.
• Demonstrates advanced understanding of development processes and product launch scope and activities.
• Independently resolve complex problems, escalating to management only for issues of strategic importance, organizational impact, or requiring executive-level decisions, emphasizing autonomy and advanced problem-solving skills.
• May coach or act as an escalation point for grades below.
• Supports early-stage go-to-market activities and transition to marketing.
• Explore and understand the competitive landscape in both product and businessterms.
• Define strategic initiatives to align the business to agile product Work closely with Portfolio Management to ensure strategic goals align and are represented in the innovation feature roadmap. Assist in the development of business plans, strategies and approaches to take advantage of business opportunities.
• Initiate strategic partnerships with technology companies, third-party vendors, that are developing adjacent new cutting-edge solution elements. Partner with Zebra Ventures to identify entities that add value to our business and solutions
• Translate customer problems into actionable solution requirements and motivate teams to deliver high-quality, reliable software that integrates seamlessly with hardware systems.
• Active management of program budgets includes forecasting, allocating, monitoring and reporting on budget management, adhering to applicable regulations and company financial best practices.
• Communication and Reporting: Ensuring alignment, transparency, and proactive issue resolution by keeping stakeholders informed on program goals, progress, risks, and mitigation through regular sync ups and updates (reports, dashboards).
• Developing and disseminating process Improvements, best practices in program management and Agile methodologies across the organization.

Minimum Qualifications:

• BS Electrical Engineering or Computer Science degree, or related technical BS degree, with 8 + years of experience
• 5+ years Engineering/Program management experience for products in fast paced environment.
• Proven experience leading multiple complex and high-impact cross-functional programs in the cloud domain.
• Strong understanding of software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall), embedded firmware development, and release management.
• Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., JIRA, MS Project, Confluence, SharePoint, AI tools for project/program management).
• Strong strategic leadership and analytical Solid critical thinking and questioning skills

• Experience with Cloud development and Software/Services development integration, as well as mobile application development for Android or iOS.
• Experience applying Artificial Intelligence or Automation to simplify routine tasks.
