A leading environmental services company in Bengaluru seeks a Mechanical Engineer to support the Project Engineering team. Job Description

The Project Engineering team is responsible for the process, mechanical engineering and coordinating design activities of conventional water and wastewater systems.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • 4 - 7 years’ Experience of mechanical engineering.
  • Have basic understanding of P&ID and are able to read heat and mass balance diagrams.

  • Has basic understanding in pre treatment, filtration and post treatment

  • Review P&IDs and provide mark ups per project specification and mass balance diagram.

  • Mark up P&IDs customer tagging or international tagging requirements, ex. KKS tagging

  • Fully understand the requirement and impact of heat & mass balance diagram and interpret on P&ID line flows.

  • Perform sanity checks of P&IDs w.r.t. pressure, flow, storage level requirements, MOC detailing, dosing studies, product fact checks such as membrane details.

  • Perform line sizing and velocity check calculations

  • Ensure correctness of P&ID and incorporate as sold requirements to customers on the P&IDs w.r.t to proposal engineering.

  • Ensure correctness, verify and cross check process projection calculations , ex membrane tank sizing, blower capacity and sizing, air for mixing requirements

  • Independently perform line sizing & velocity check calculations using applicable standards or best engineering practice

  • Independently develop equipment list along with equipment weight calculations

  • Thorough understanding and interpretation of MOCs, piping specifications with applicable codes & standards like ASME, ASTM, API, DIN

  • Independently develop valve lists selecting compatible and optimized material constructs

  • Independently develop electrical load lists along with electrical load calculations.

  • Independently develop pump sizing calculations for different application categories like centrifugal, reciprocating, axial, multistage pumps, etc.

  • Independently develop blower sizing calculations for different application categories like centrifugal, reciprocating blowers

  • Independently develop instrument list as per project specification

  • Review & approve line sizing & velocity check calculations for different fluid applications

  • Review & approve equipment lists along with equipment weight calculations

  • Review & approve valve lists

  • Independent preparation of technical package for critical commodities likes valves, instruments, specialty items such as bellows, ejectors

  • Independent preparation of technical package for rotating equipments likes pumps, blowers, centrifuge, compressors.

  • Independent preparation of technical package preparation of static equipments like atmospheric tanks, filter housings

  • Perform manual material take off from PIDs, facility arrangement drawings or hand sketches

  • Review material take off with piping specifications

  • Coordinate with modelers to monitor design progress.

  • Review Fabrication Drawing-Puddle Pipe, Spools, beam, hanger, lifting modules

  • Exposure to Codes and Standards, Experience working with Global Customers/Global Delivery centres.
