Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional experience as a technical writer, editor, or documentation specialist in an engineering or software development environment.

• Exceptional writing skills with impeccable English grammar, spelling, and clarity.
• Technical aptitude to grasp complex concepts in software, electronics, and integrated systems.
• Proficiency with documentation tools including Word, Excel, Visio, FrameMaker, MadCap Flare, Confluence, and Jira.

Roles and Responsibilities

As a Technical Documentation Associate, you will work at the heart of the engineering team to create and manage critical technical documents. You will:

Collaborate with Experts: Work directly with avionics, flight controls, and systems engineers to gather information and deeply understand the systems you are documenting.

Author Key Documents: Write, edit, format, and maintain a wide range of technical documentation, including:

• Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for lab equipment and test setups.
• User Manuals and guides for proprietary software and hardware.
• Formal Test Procedures for System Integration Lab (SIL), ground, and flight testing.
• Detailed Test Reports summarizing results and findings.
• System Description Documents and technical specifications.

Ensure Consistency and Quality: Enforce documentation standards, templates, and style guides across all materials to ensure a consistent and professional output.

Support Certification: Assist in the preparation, review, and organization of comprehensive documentation packages required for civil aerospace certification reviews.

Manage Document Control: Implement and manage a robust document control system, ensuring proper versioning, review cycles, and archival of all technical documents.

Requirements

Required Qualifications (Must-Haves)

Experience: 2+ years of professional experience as a technical writer, technical editor, or documentation specialist in an engineering or software development environment.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English, Engineering, or a related field.

Exceptional Writing Skills: A superior command of the English language, with impeccable grammar, spelling, and a talent for explaining complex topics in a clear and concise manner.

Technical Aptitude: A proven ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts related to software, electronics, and integrated systems.

Tool Proficiency: High proficiency with industry-standard documentation tools, including the Microsoft Office Suite (especially Word, Excel, and Visio).

Attention to Detail: A meticulous and organized approach, with a keen eye for detail in formatting, consistency, and accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications (Good-to-Haves)

Aviation/Aerospace Experience: Direct experience creating technical documentation in the aviation or aerospace industry is a significant advantage.

Knowledge of Standards: Familiarity with aerospace documentation principles and specifications such as ASD-STE100 (Simplified Technical English), S1000D, or ATA iSpec 2200.

Certification Documentation: Experience contributing to documentation packages for certification to standards like DO-178c, DO-254, or ARP4754a is a major plus.

Relevant Experience: Experience managing engineering documents within a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system (like Teamcenter or Windchill) or a dedicated Engineering Document Management System (EDMS).

Advanced Authoring Tools: Experience with dedicated technical authoring tools like Adobe FrameMaker, MadCap Flare, or similar.

Collaboration Tools: Experience using collaborative platforms like Confluence and Jira for documentation management.

Graphics Skills: Ability to create or edit technical illustrations, diagrams, and flowcharts to supplement written content.
