Job description

Role Summary The Business Analyst (BA) for the Alpha Index HUB (AIH) is a key contributor within the Product Organization, responsible for translating business, operational, and client needs into clear, actionable product requirements. The role supports the design, build, testing, and rollout of scalable index and benchmark data capabilities that are critical to Alpha’s data platform. This position works closely with Product Owners, Engineering, Quality Assurance (QA), Operations, and third‑party data vendors to ensure product enhancements are well‑defined, operable, auditable, and aligned with Alpha product strategy and delivery standards.

Key Responsibilities
Product & Requirements Management

Partner with Product Owners to define, document, and refine product requirements aligned with Alpha Index HUB strategy and roadmap. Lead requirements elicitation through stakeholder interviews, workflow analysis, and data analysis. Produce high‑quality artifacts including Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), functional and non‑functional requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria. Ensure requirements are clear, testable, and traceable through development and testing phases.

Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration

Act as the primary liaison between Product, Engineering, QA, Operations, and external vendors. Facilitate discussions to ensure shared understanding of scope, dependencies, risks, and expected outcomes. Work closely with Operations teams to incorporate operational workflows, controls, and exception handling into product requirements.

Delivery & Execution Support

Support Agile delivery activities including backlog refinement, sprint planning, and sprint reviews. Define detailed acceptance criteria, covering positive, negative, and edge‑case scenarios, to enable effective QA and UAT/CUAT execution. Participate in testing activities and support validation of delivered functionality against business intent.

Operational Readiness & Risk Management

Ensure product requirements address data quality, auditability, operational transparency, and control considerations. Contribute to the definition of dashboards, status indicators, and monitoring frameworks that support daily operational validation and issue detection. Assist with documentation and communication of field definitions, status meanings, and operational behaviors to reduce ambiguity and risk.

Continuous Improvement

Identify opportunities to simplify workflows, enhance usability, and improve operational efficiency. Support ongoing evolution and maturity of Alpha Index HUB capabilities in alignment with broader Alpha product and platform initiatives.

Required Qualifications

Experience 12+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, with level determined by role (BA, BAII, SeniorBA). Experience working in a product‑led or Agile/Scrum delivery environment. Proven experience producing BRDs, user stories, and acceptance criteria.

Skills & Competencies

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with high attention to detail. Ability to translate complex technical and data concepts into clear business requirements. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to both technical and non‑technical audiences. Effective stakeholder management and collaboration skills. Hands‑on experience writing and reviewing SQL queries to support data analysis, validation, and issue investigation. Working knowledge of running, monitoring, and validating processes in the Charles River Development (CRD) environment, including awareness of upstream/downstream dependencies, batch processing, and operational workflows.

Preferred Domain Knowledge

Experience with financial services, index, benchmark, or market data platforms. Familiarity with large‑scale data pipelines, dashboards, or operational monitoring tools. Understanding of data governance, controls, and audit considerations.

Reporting & Alignment

Reports into the Alpha Product Organization. Works in close partnership with Alpha Index HUB Product Owners, Engineering leads, QA teams, and Operations stakeholders. Embedded within product delivery cadence, including sprint planning, refinement, and release activities.

Measures of Success

Requirements are clearly defined, consistently understood, and require minimal rework. Engineering and QA teams can deliver features efficiently with reduced clarification cycles. Operations teams gain improved visibility, consistency, and confidence in Alpha Index HUB processing. Product enhancements materially improve platform reliability, transparency, and scalability.
