Job summary

Eyeline is a global creative studio focused on visual effects, storytelling, and cinematic craft. We seek a Tech Prep Compositor to bridge plate prep and final compositing, ensuring shots meet strict QC and artistic standards for final delivery.

You will leverage deep Nuke expertise to tackle technical cleanup, color balancing, CG integration adjustments, and script optimization across feature film and episodic sequences.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of live-action feature film or episodic compositing/plate prep experience.
• Intermediate to advanced Nuke skills with deep 2D compositing workflows.
• Expertise in blue/green screen keying, edge treatment, color balancing, and multi-pass CG integration.
• Maintain clean, organized, and efficient Nuke scripts.
• General understanding of 3D CG, camera projections, lighting, and rendering principles.
• Knowledge of film formats, aspect ratios, color spaces.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Plate Prep Artists and Compositors to meet technical QC standards.
• Perform high-end compositing tasks including blue/green screen keying and CG integration.
• Conduct final color adjustments and color matching within show pipelines.
• Optimize comp scripts, node graphs, and workflows for faster renders.
• Apply tracking, color correction, depth of field, retiming, warping, denoising, and plate stitching techniques.
• Generate roto mattes and frame-by-frame paint cleanup as needed.
• Perform rigorous QC to detect edge chatter, color shifts, tracking issues, or artifacts.

As a Tech Prep Compositor, you will bridge the gap between plate preparation and final compositing, ensuring shots meet the highest technical quality control (QC) and artistic standards for final delivery. Leveraging your strong compositing skillset and deep Nuke expertise, you will focus on technical cleanup, edge finaling, blue and green screen extraction, CG integration adjustments, and comp script optimization across feature film and episodic show sequences.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with Plate Prep Artists, Compositors, Leads, and Production to ensure shot elements meet technical QC standards for final delivery.
• Execute high-end technical compositing tasks, including blue/green screen keying, spill suppression, edge finaling, and seamless CG integration.
• Perform final color adjustments, grading, color matching, and plate balancing within established show color management pipelines.
• Maintain and promote comp script efficiency, optimizing node graphs, cleaning up element workflows, and troubleshooting complex scripts for faster render times.
• Utilize and share core knowledge of 2D image manipulation processes such as tracking, color correction, depth of field, retiming, warping, denoising, and plate stitching.
• Generate accurate articulate roto mattes, frame-by-frame paint cleanup, and procedural prep work when called upon to resolve complex shot issues.
• Perform rigorous technical quality control across sequences, identifying edge chatter, color shifts, tracking slippage, or artifacting prior to final output.
• Receive and implement feedback swiftly and effectively while maintaining production guidelines and delivery schedules.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of live-action feature film or episodic compositing and/or advanced plate prep experience.
• Intermediate to Advanced Nuke skills with a deep understanding of core 2D compositing workflows.
• Demonstrated expertise in blue and green screen keying, edge treatment, color balancing, and multi-pass CG integration.
• Practiced ability to maintain clean, organized, and computationally efficient Nuke scripts.
• General understanding of 3D computer graphics, camera projections, lighting, and rendering principles.
• Solid understanding of film formats, aspect ratios, pixel aspect ratios, and color spaces.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
• Strong written and oral communication skills; a collaborative team player.
• Familiarity with VFX production tracking software such as ShotGrid/Flow.

Preferred Skills

• Working knowledge of Mocha, Silhouette, or specialized paint/prep software.
• OCIO/ACES color configuration and color management experience.
• Basic Python or TCL scripting skills for Nuke workflow automation.
• Background in traditional art, photography, or cinematography
