Job summary

Aqua Security Hyderabad is seeking a Tech Lead to drive the server team, delivering the management console and large-scale data processing. You will work across the stack—Go/Node.js/Java, REST APIs, UI, and background jobs—while ensuring reliability in cloud-native environments.

You will influence API lifecycles, adopt modern engineering practices, and contribute to secure software used by major enterprises. A strong focus on distributed systems and DevOps alignment is essential.

Qualifications

• 9+ years of hands-on engineering delivering features for large-scale distributed applications.
• Proven experience designing and building multi-component systems / microservices with efficient inter-service communication.
• Strong programming background in Go, Node.js, Java, or similar high-level languages.
• Experienced in building and maintaining APIs (REST or RPC).
• Familiar with modern engineering practices, open-source ecosystems, and scaling software in real customer environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop Aquas management console, a multi-component system with REST APIs and a web UI.
• Write features across the stack: SQL queries, business logic, background processes, and UI.
• Contribute to large-scale, distributed applications deployed on-premise and in cloud environments.
• Collaborate with teams to ensure backward-compatible API design and smooth deployments.

Aqua Security enables enterprises to secure their container-based and cloud-native applications from development to production, accelerating container adoption and bridging the gap between DevOps and IT security. • We are looking for a talented Tech Lead to join our server team, in charge of developing Aquas management console - a multi-component system with many responsibilities, performing various background jobs and large-scale data processing; supplying REST APIs, a web based UI and more.


• In this role, you will take part in further development of our management console, writing features across the entire application stack: SQL queries, business logic, background processes, REST APIs and web-based user interfaces.


• At Aqua, you will not be writing code for in-house applications. You will be writing code for large technology companies, banks, government agencies and multi-national chains.


• Our product is composed of multiple components, mostly installed on-premise in our customers cloud environments, but also has SaaS components, plugins for various CI/CD systems and many more. Almost everything runs inside containers. It is written in Go - an exciting new language from Google, and heavily depends on free software/open source components. Our web UI is currently written in VueJS. We are primarily a Linux company, but our software also supports Windows and Mac.

Working from Aqua Hyderabad office a minimum of 4 days per week (Mon-Thu)

Requirements

1. 9+ years of hands-on engineering experiencedelivering features for large-scale, distributed applications.


2. Proven experience designing and buildingmulti‑component systems / microserviceswith efficient inter‑service communication patterns.


3. Strong programming background inGo, Node.js, Java, or similar high-level languages — extra credit if you’ve used Go in production or survived a weekend debugging a catastrophic memory leak.


4. Experienced in building and maintainingAPIs (REST or RPC)while owning the lifecycle of backward‑compatibility decisions (including the ones you regret).


5. Passionate about modern engineering practices, open-source ecosystems, and developing software that runs reliably at scale in real customer environments.

AI & GenAI Expertise

1. Practical, high-impact experience usingGenAI development tools(Cursor, GitHub Copilot, etc.) to boost developer productivity, accelerate code reviews, support architectural decisions, and improve engineering workflows.


2. Familiarity withAI-supported observability, predictive alerting, data analysis and intelligent root‑cause analysis.


3. Experience integratingAI/ML-assisted toolinginto design, development, test automation, CI/CD, or operational pipelines is a strong plus.

Data & StorageTechnologies

1. Deep hands-on experience withRDBMS(MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQLite) and/orNoSQL systems(MongoDB, Redis, Cassandra, Couchbase).


2. PostgreSQL database knowledge and performance tuning should outline specific technical competencies and optimization responsibilities


3. Comfortable writing complex queries (yes, includingmulti‑join monsters) and having strong opinions oninteger vs UUIDprimary keys.


4. Bonus points for familiarity withGraph Databases.

Cloud, Infra & DevOps

1. Solid, production-grade experience onAWS(required).


2. Strong knowledge ofIaC tooling, automated provisioning, and cloud-native infrastructure design.


3. Experience building cloud-native apps usingServerless (Lambda), SNS, SQS, S3, EC2, and event-driven architectures.


4. Understanding ofAI-supported IaC, automated configuration checks, and intelligent cloud monitoring is a plus.

Containers, Linux & Ecosystem

1. StrongLinuxfundamentals — you should feel at home in *nix environments.


2. Hands-on experience withDockerandKubernetes(required);OpenShiftis a bonus.


3. Knowledge of event streaming platforms likeKafkais a plus.
