Job summary

PUMA is seeking a Teamhead Cloud Native Engineering to lead a team of four engineers and drive cloud strategy across Azure and Google Cloud. You will own the cloud engineering output, direction, and quality, collaborating with global platforms and stakeholders.

YOUR MISSION

The Teamhead Cloud Native Engineering leads a team of 4 engineers and reports directly to the Head of Cloud Native Platforms in Herzogenaurach. This role carries full responsibility for the team’s cloud engineering output, direction, and quality.

A Cloud Engineer designs, implements, and manages cloud landing zones to ensure they are scalable, reliable, and secure. They work with cloud service providers like Google Cloud or Microsoft Azure to deploy and optimize cloud resources.

Key Responsibilities & Scope of Ownership
  • Lead the design and implementation of complex cloud solutions on Azure and GCP following the architectural framework.
  • Oversee and optimize the deployment and management of applications on our global cloud platforms.
  • Manage and enhance the security, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of cloud infrastructure.
  • Continuously monitor and strategically optimize resources for peak performance.
  • Develop and enforce advanced security measures to safeguard data and applications.
  • Design and implement automation strategies using tools like Terraform or Ansible.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex issues in the cloud environment efficiently.
  • Evaluate and oversee the impact of changes on existing cloud solutions and guiding team members through complex modifications.
  • Create documentation of technical concepts that enhance team understanding and support strategic decision-making.
  • Lead collaboration efforts with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless cloud integration.
  • Mentor junior team members.
YOUR TALENT
Key Requirements
  • Several years of experience in cloud engineering, with proven hands‑on expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and/or Microsoft Azure.
  • Strong understanding of cloud-native architecture principles including containerisation (Kubernetes, Docker) and microservices.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or Ansible for automated provisioning and configuration management.
  • Solid knowledge of cloud security best practices, identity and access management, and data protection standards.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices for continuous delivery and automated testing.
  • Strong monitoring and observability skills using tools such as Azure Monitor, Google Cloud Operations, Grafana, or equivalent.
  • Ability to lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a culture of ownership, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to document complex technical concepts clearly for diverse audiences.
  • Deep knowledge of Microsoft CAF / Google FAST / Landing zone principles.
