Job summary

Hitachi Energy in Chennai seeks a Managerat INOPC-HVDC to lead strategy, operations, and people development for the local unit. You will drive resource planning, risk assessment, and collaboration with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and customers.

The role centers on delivering performance targets while upholding safety and integrity. You will also coordinate with HVDC Service India for care orders, site support, and warranty services, and manage personnel development and succession planning

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree required in Electrical/ Electronics.
• 3+ years as Line Manager/Team Leader with a team of 10.
• CP knowledge in HVDC / PQSS / Substation preferred.
• HVDC systems knowledge and electrical design/testing experience.
• Strong leadership and intercultural sensitivity.
• Proficient in English; strong communication and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Plan resources long-term in alignment with tendered projects and forecast needs.
• Monitor department KPIs (on-time delivery, FPY, productivity) and financial budget.
• Review and approve techno-economic offerings and tender pricing; assess risks and opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with Hitachi Energy's safety, integrity, and governance standards.
• Collaborate with HVDC Service India to execute care orders, site support, and warranty service.
• Conduct personnel assessments, performance reviews, and set targets for direct reports.
• Identify development areas, plan succession, and drive local strategy and road map.

Job description

The opportunity:

As a Managerat INOPC-HVDC, Chennai you will be responsible for a given Groups strategy, operation, resource planning, competence development and people development. You need to collaborate with various cross-functional group/teams, suppliers and customers. You will be part of local management and act as a sounding board within the organization. Analysis and risk management will also be among your tasks. You will in many ways be the person at the center of things. Together with the tender responsible you will also handle tender calculations and pricing models.

How you''ll make an impact:

• You will be resource planning medium to long term and allocation based on the forecast of tenders projects in collaboration with global service organization.
• You will ensure KPI of the department (e.g. on time delivery, FPY, productivity), ensure achieving financial budget.
• You will review and approve techno-economic offering by your line in a tender/project, assess risk and opportunity, run routine review follow-up with the project team and other cross-functional teams, supplier and customers, recruit personnel as per HC budget.
• You will be accountable for the team as per Hitachi Energy Group compliance, Integrity, Health Safety.
• You will collaborate with HVDC Service, India for executing Care orders, Site support Warranty service.
• You will be responsible for personnel assessments / peoples review, target setting for the direct report.
• You will identify peoples development area(s) and implement actions accordingly, identify key competence area and have succession planning.
• You will participate in units strategic work and develop local strategy and road map, workout future scope expansion and competence development, drive operation development for the local organization.
• You will be responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background:

• You hold a bachelors degree in engineering in Electrical/ Electronic preferred.
• Have previous experience of Line Manager/Team Leader at least 3 years with a team size of 10.
• CP knowledge in HVDC/ PQSS /Substation is preferred.
• Its great if you have Knowledge and Experience in HVDC systems, experience in Electrical design and testing.
• Strong leadership skills, good intercultural sensitivity.
• Sound English language knowledge.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills required.
