Hitachi Energy is seeking a Manager at INOPC-HVDC, Chennai to drive strategy, resource planning and people development within a cross-functional team. You will manage tenders, pricing models, and risk with the project teams, ensuring compliance with safety and integrity standards.

You will lead a capable team, foster collaboration across functions, and contribute to local strategy while developing competencies for future growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering preferred.
• 3+ years as a Line Manager/Team Leader with a team of 10+.
• C&P knowledge in HVDC/PQSS/Substation preferred.
• Experience with HVDC systems and electrical design/testing beneficial.
• Strong leadership, intercultural sensitivity, and good English communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead resource planning for tenders and projects in collaboration with global service organization.
• Ensure department KPIs: on-time delivery, FPY, productivity, and budget adherence.
• Review and approve techno-economic offerings; assess risk and opportunities with project teams.
• Collaborate with HVDC Service, India for care orders, site support and warranty service.
• Conduct personnel assessments, set targets for direct reports, and drive development actions.
• Develop local strategy and road map; identify future scope and competence needs.

The Opportunity

As a Manager at INOPC-HVDC, Chennai you will be responsible for a given Group’s strategy, operation, resource planning, competence development and people development. You need to collaborate with various cross-functional group/teams, suppliers and customers. You will be part of local management and act as a “sounding board” within the organization. Analysis and risk management will also be among your tasks. You will in many ways be the person at the center of things. Together with the tender responsible you will also handle tender calculations and pricing models.

How You'll Make An Impact

• You will be resource planning medium to long term and allocation based on the forecast of tenders & projects in collaboration with global service organization.
• You will ensure KPI of the department (e.g. on time delivery, FPY, productivity), ensure achieving financial budget.
• You will review and approve techno-economic offering by your line in a tender/project, assess risk and opportunity, run routine review & follow-up with the project team and other cross-functional teams, supplier and customers, recruit personnel as per HC budget.
• You will be accountable for the team as per Hitachi Energy Group compliance, Integrity, Health & Safety.
• You will collaborate with HVDC Service, India for executing Care orders, Site support & Warranty service.
• You will be responsible for personnel assessments / people’s review, target setting for the direct report.
• You will identify people’s development area(s) and implement actions accordingly, identify key competence area and have succession planning.
• You will participate in unit’s strategic work and develop local strategy and road map, workout future scope expansion and competence development, drive operation development for the local organization.
• You will be responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background

• You hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering in Electrical/ Electronic preferred.
• Have previous experience of Line Manager/Team Leader at least 3 years with a team size of ≥10.
• C&P knowledge in HVDC/ PQSS /Substation is preferred.
• Its great if you have Knowledge and Experience in HVDC systems, experience in Electrical design and testing.
• Strong leadership skills, good intercultural sensitivity.
• Sound English language knowledge.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills required.
