Job summary

X-Rite Pantone in Bangalore seeks a Team Lead Embedded Quality Assurance to drive hands-on testing and people leadership for embedded software solutions across spectrophotometers and imaging systems.

You will establish the QA competency center, define release criteria, and partner with global engineering to ensure high-quality products while mentoring a growing team in a fast-paced, international environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in embedded software QA with 2+ years leading engineers.
• Experience defining QA processes, KPIs, and release readiness criteria.
• Experience designing scalable automated test frameworks for embedded systems.
• Experience with hardware-in-the-loop and system-level automated testing.
• Experience validating security requirements and secure SDLC.
• English communication skills for internal/external customers.
• Experience with CI/CD platforms such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps.
• DevOps environment with Git and agile project management tools (e.g. Jira).
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Establish and grow the Embedded QA competency center (around 6 QA engineers and QA automation engineers) in Bangalore, creating sustainable processes and quality leadership.
• Define team structure, growth plans, skills development, and hiring/onboarding in collaboration with global engineering leadership.
• Define and drive the embedded software quality strategy, including automation, test coverage, release readiness criteria, defect management, and quality metrics.
• Collaborate with global engineering, product management, systems engineering, cybersecurity, and program management teams to align quality objectives and release plans.
• Drive a culture of continuous improvement through automation, AI-assisted testing, process optimization, and measurable quality outcomes.
• Operate within a global engineering organization spanning India, Europe, and the United States.

Role Overview – Team Lead Embedded Quality Assurance – Bangalore (India)

As the Team Lead Embedded Quality Assurance (M. Sc. or B. Sc.), you will be at the forefront of innovation within our embedded systems development team. This is a player-coach role, combining people leadership with hands‑on technical quality engineering. Your role is pivotal in ensuring seamless testing and release of embedded software solutions for X-Rite's renowned product lines, ranging from spectrophotometers to spectral imaging systems. Your expertise will guarantee the highest quality standards across our market‑leading optoelectronic color and appearance measurement devices.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish and grow the Embedded QA competency center (around 6 QA engineers and QA automation engineers) in Bangalore, creating sustainable processes, technical expertise, and quality leadership capabilities supporting global product development.
• Define team structure, growth plans, skills development, and hiring and onboarding in collaboration with global engineering leadership (US, Switzerland).
• Define and drive the embedded software quality strategy, including automation, test coverage, release readiness criteria, defect management, and quality metrics.
• Collaborate with global engineering, product management, systems engineering, cybersecurity, and program management teams to align quality objectives and release plans.
• Drive a culture of continuous improvement through automation, AI‑assisted testing, process optimization, and measurable quality outcomes.
• Successfully operate within a global engineering organization spanning India, Europe, and the United States.
• Partner with engineering leadership to assess release readiness and ensure deployment decisions are supported by objective quality metrics.
• Acquire in‑depth knowledge about the business/domain to effectively represent customer needs and actively participate in embedded systems development planning.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor or Master of Science in electrical engineering, computer science, or related field. 7+ years of experience in embedded software quality assurance with at least 2 years of leading or mentoring engineers.

Experience and training in most of the following areas are required:

• Experience leading, mentoring, or coaching embedded systems quality teams.
• Experience defining QA processes, test strategies, quality KPIs, and release readiness criteria.
• Experience designing scalable automated test frameworks for embedded systems.
• Experience with hardware‑in‑the‑loop and system‑level automated testing.
• Experience validating security requirements and supporting secure product development lifecycles.
• Effective communication skills in English (internal and external customers).
• Experience with CI/CD platforms such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps.
• DevOps environment, including version control system (Git) and agile project management tools (e.g. Jira).
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment, fostering a collaborative and effective work culture.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in optics and/or color science and in the measurement instrument industry.
• Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, C/C++, and Bash.
• Demonstrate proficiency in writing automated test scripts to enhance testing efficiency (pytest, Googletest).
