Teaching Journalism & Mass Media - Visual Communication & Multimedia Design
We are looking for a versatile and creative faculty member to train Mass Communication students in the fundamentals of design and multimedia production. This faculty role involves guiding students in creating graphics across print, broadcast, and digital platforms, and teaching the practical use of industry-standard software for design, video editing, motion graphics, and audio manipulation.
The role requires a hands-on educator who connects design principles with technical skills, ensuring students can conceptualize, create, and deliver professional-quality media assets across multiple formats.
Key Responsibilities
- Teaching & Training: Teach graphic design principles (color theory, typography, layout, visual hierarchy) and design for print, digital, and broadcast media.
- Software Tools: Train students in Adobe After Effects (motion graphics, basic animations, title sequences) and basic audio editing tools (Audition or equivalent – sound clean-up, voice balancing, mixing for media).
- Cross-Media Graphic Creation: Design for print (posters, newsletters, brochures), digital (social media graphics, web design, ads), and broadcast media (TV graphics, lower thirds, transitions).
- Project-Based Learning: Guide mini projects (social media posts, news cards, infographics, motion ads) and supervise capstone projects (360° campaign graphics across print, digital, and motion).
- Portfolio & Industry Readiness: Mentor students on preparing a design portfolio showcasing multi-platform skills; arrange workshops/masterclasses with professional designers and editors.
- Audio-Visual Integration: Train students in basic audio manipulation (noise cleaning, voice level adjustments, background music/effects).
- Industry Linkages: Stay updated on design and software trends and bring in real client briefs or live projects (through collaborations with the Visual Communication Department).
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Visual Communication, Multimedia, Design, or Mass Communication.
- Minimum 2–3 years of professional/teaching experience in graphic design and multimedia production.
- Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, and audio editing tools.
- Strong understanding of design workflows across print, digital, and broadcast.
- Strong foundation in design principles and creative storytelling; technical proficiency across graphic, video, motion, and audio tools.
- Ability to break down complex workflows into student-friendly learning modules.
- Excellent communication, mentoring, and feedback-giving skills; collaborative mindset to work with faculty from journalism, advertising, and digital media.
