Overview
As a Tax Reviewer, review U.S. federal/state tax returns for accuracy and compliance, manage corrections and deadlines, mentor preparers, and finalize e‑file‑ready deliverables.
Responsibilities
- Detailed review of federal, state and local income tax returns ensuring calculations, accounting theory, and tax law compliance, particularly focusing on Form 1065, Form 1120S, and Form 1120.
- Review the various workpapers prepared by preparer for its accuracy.
- Provide technical guidance and support to tax preparers, especially on complex or challenging issues.
- Conduct induction and ongoing training sessions, including updates on tax laws and software changes.
- Assign daily tasks to preparers and monitor progress to ensure timely completion.
- Follow up on pending work and assist in resolving bottlenecks.
- Submit completed tax returns and related documentation within scheduled timelines.
- Review and incorporate client feedback, make necessary modifications, and re‑submit promptly.
- Contribute to various organizational projects as per business requirements.
- Adapt quickly to changes in client policies, procedures, and software updates, and communicate these effectively to the team.
- Adhere to organizational policies, procedures, and quality standards. Ensure strict compliance with information security protocols and data protection guidelines.
- Mentor and train team members to enhance their technical and professional capabilities.
- Foster a collaborative and high‑performance work environment.
Qualifications
- 4 to 6 years of experience.
- B. Com / M. Com / CA / CPA / EA.
- Bachelor’s degree in commerce or a related field, with 4 to 6 years of experience in U.S. taxation or a relevant domain.
- Strong accounting expertise and analytical skills with the ability to interpret and analyse Trial Balance, Profit & Loss statements, and Balance Sheets.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, with the ability to develop and manage diverse workpapers efficiently.
- In‑depth knowledge of U.S. tax forms, including Form 1065, 1120S and 1120.
- Strong accounting knowledge.
- Strong understanding of tax concepts, industry practices, and procedures.
- Proven ability to plan and accomplish goals using sound judgment and prior experience.
- Demonstrated leadership in directing and supporting the work of others.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in tax software such as Go System, CCH Axcess, UltraTax, and Lacerte.
- Strong computer proficiency, particularly in Microsoft Office applications.
- Effective time management and organizational abilities.
