Job summary

Hitachi Energy in India seeks an Electrical Power Systems engineer to design authority for a power engineering discipline with low to medium complexity. You will work on HVDC systems, develop controllers, and contribute to project tenders and base work.

You will model stability of HVDC systems using PSCAD/EMTDC, PSSE and PowerFactory, and ensure compliance with standards while interfacing with other departments for optimal end results.

Qualifications

• BE EEE with >5 years experience; ME Power System (3–18 years); PhD Power System (1–5 years).
• Extensive knowledge of Power Systems studies and modelling of electrical network /HVDC/FACT.
• Understanding application of Power Electronics in HV/EHV systems like HVDC and FACTS; proficient with calculation tools.
• Experience with power system simulation tools such as PSSE, EMTDC/PSCAD, PowerFactory and MATLAB/MathCAD.
• Knowledge of Power Systems equipment and their function (Transformers, Capacitors, Reactors, Instrument Transformers, circuit breakers, etc.).
• Know-how on selection, sizing and integration of equipment based on customer specs.
• Experience with Power Transmission EPC projects; strong teamwork and analytical skills.
• Strong interpersonal communication and fluency in English.

The opportunity:

In this role you will design authority for an engineering discipline with low to medium complexity. Complete assignments on small projects or portions of larger projects, cost-effectively and in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards and safety requirements.

• You will understand and design of Electrical Power Systems and controls Preferably knowledge on IEC/IEEE standards.

• To successfully take on this position, you need to be thorough and structured with a high technical interest and strive for good solutions within the set time limits. You will be involved in projects, tenders, base work.

• To grow with each task, enabling yourself to develop and take more and more responsibility. HVDC is a complex product, there is always more to learn.

• You will model and study the stability of HVDC system through simulations in PSCAD/EMTDC, PSSE, Power factory and design the controllers.

Your background:

• You should have B.E. EEE (> 5 years experience)/ Master of Engineering - Power System (3 to 18 years experience)/ PhD - Power System (1 to 5 years experience).

• Extensive knowledge of Power Systems studies and modelling of electrical network /HVDC/FACT.

• Preferably Understanding application of Power Electronics in HV/EHV system like HVDC and FACTS and proven skills in using computers as a calculation tool.

• Preferably experience of power system simulation tools such as PSSE, EMTDC /PSCAD, Power Factory and calculationsin Matlab / Mathcad.

• Extensive knowledge of Power Systems equipment and their purpose, such as Power Transformers, Capacitors, Reactors, Instrument Transformer and measuring equipment, Circuit Breakers, Disconnector, Surge Arrester etc.

• Knowledge in selection, sizing and integration of above equipment based on customer functional specification, Knowledge of power system as per job description.

• Power Transmission Projects (EPC)Teamwork, Analytical skills.

• Strong interpersonal communication skill, fluency in English.
