Job summary

Siemens Mobility in Pune is seeking a System Engineer RAMS to lead safety and RAMS activities for rail solutions. You will define safety requirements across software, hardware, and external systems, and prepare safety analyses and documentation for safety-critical train functions.

The role involves risk assessment, architecture validation, and coordination with project teams to ensure compliance with Hazard Log entries, SAS criteria, and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Graduate Engineer with 8+ years in RAMS, incl. 5+ years in rolling stock safety engineering.
  • Knowledge of relevant standards and regulations.
  • Ability to work in international/multicultural environments.
  • Good written and spoken English; German is a plus.

We are looking for System Engineer RAMS
  • Definition and analysis of security requirements for SW, HW and external systems
  • Preparation of safety analysis and safety-related documentation
  • Risk assessment of safety-critical train functions.
  • Within projects, checks and corrects the architectures planned by Engineers, Hazard Owners, or platform managers, for all functions / hazards from the project-specific Hazard Log assigned the risk acceptance principal "E" (explicit risk estimation)
  • Identification of failure scenarios and related security measures
  • checks whether the architecture of safety related vehicle functions is suitable to meet the SAS determined in the project-specific Hazard Log
  • Requirement Level Specification (SySAS), the document, where are safety responsibilities apportioned to the so-called Architecture Elements
  • Checking the correctness of the architecture planned by design engineers, risk owners and other managers of the given platform.
  • Coordination and support of the project team from a security perspective
  • Specification of Safety requirements for the System and Subsystems level.
  • Evaluation of safety analyses of suppliers.
  • Execution of Safety analyses and validation.

Safety Management
  • Evaluation of the outcomes of safety analyses.
  • Co-ordination of common risks at the subsystem interfaces.
  • defining, planning, preparing, and collating (coordination) of the certification documents required or to be prepared for the safety process.
  • Safety documentation in SAP.
  • Coordinate activities between SMO and external safety certification body (e.g. ISA, AsBo, homologation authorities, operators, and customers).
  • Application of the safety process throughout the development cycle and participation in local/global project bids for tasks related to functional safety.
  • Preparation of project safety plans and other documents (e.g. FMECA, FTA...) in accordance with EN 50126, EN 20128, EN 50129 standards.
RAM (Added Advantage)
  • Execution of the RAM/LCC and/or Safety process in the Project/Tender.
  • Planning, coordination, implementation, and documentation of RAM/LCC for Rail vehicle projects from design to acceptance up to the end of the warranty.
  • Lead technical development of RAM/LCC adhering to the Quality, Cost & Delivery (QCD) commitments of the Project/Tender.
  • Creation of RAM LCC plans.
  • Deploy and apply development procedures, Engineering processes into the design and development of RAM/LCC.
  • Specification of RAM-LCC requirements for the Subsystems.
  • Risk investigations, preparation of safety certificates Coordination with customers and Regulatory authorities.
  • Execution of RAM-LCC analyses and validation.
  • Responsible for Requirement management for RAM scope and ensuring internal stakeholders & external suppliers’ compliance in line with project QCD targets.
  • Lead & organize Design reviews as per project/Tender milestones and get necessary approvals for design release.
Desired Skills
  • Graduate Engineer with minimum 8+ years of experience in RAMS out of which minimum 5 years in Rolling stock safety engineering & Management field, Knowledge of the relevant standards and regulations of advantage.
  • Knowledge of project management as well as SAP is desirable.
  • Being agile, ability to prioritize and to work effectively under pressure to meet the deadline.
  • Able to work in an international & multicultural environment within a matrix organization structure.
  • Good written and spoken communication skills (in English). German will be an advantage.
  • Ready to travel locally and internationally as in when required by projects.
