Amazon Finance Technology is looking for a highly motivated System Development Engineer to help build Amazon's business critical financial systems and build system solutions to operate at scale. You will work on critical finance business functions for our customers around the world while meeting system availability goals and ensuring system performance with growing business needs. You will discover innovative ways to automate and scale our infrastructure as we expand globally. You will work together with multiple teams and departments, with plenty of opportunities to learn and grow. The ideal candidate has a passion for understanding computing systems and for applying that understanding with an obsession for delighting customers. In this role, you will apply your skills of system design, networking, coding/scripting languages, as well as technical communication and project organization to make your impact on improving our business processes. The candidate is expected to contribute work critical initiatives, build products, lead engineers to troubleshoot, debug, evaluate and resolve computer-identified alarms, make feature enhancements, systems management, perform software deployments and migrations, host management and automate the operational tasks. They would also be responsible to develop tools and end to end automation to achieve human free operations. As an Engineer in the team, you will take part in the architecture, design, implementation and deployment of large-scale and complex software systems. You will get to leverage your experience and expertise to deliver innovative solutions to challenging problems. You will communicate your ideas effectively to achieve the right outcome for your team and customer. You enjoy collaborating with others to increase the effectiveness of the overall team. Your code, design, and implementation decisions should set a great example to other engineers. You will also have the opportunity to impact the technical decisions in the broader organization as well as mentor other engineers in the team.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
• 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• 2+ years of administrative experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems and hands-on systems engineering experience
• Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems)
• 4+ years of experience in Systems/Software development and infrastructure.
• 3+ years building solutions to improve availability and scalability of enterprise implementations.
• In depth knowledge of operating Windows, Linux or other UNIX variants in a datacenter environment or AWS cloud.
• Computer Science fundamentals in data structures, problem solving and complexity analysis
• Strong system troubleshooting skills and able to deal with ambiguity and drive, design, and implement large scale system/software solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
• Experience in architecting systems on AWS platform and service-oriented architecture
• Ability to take a project from scoping requirements through actual launch of the project
• Experience with Amazon Compute & Storage Technologies like EC2, S3, DynamoDB and RDS
• Experience deploying or managing servers in large-scale, geographically diverse environments and storage infrastructure.
