Lam Research in Bengaluru, India, seeks a Supplier Quality Engineer for Elastomer components. You will manage elastomer suppliers, drive corrective actions, and support 8D/PPAP activities to ensure quality and timely delivery.

Ideal candidates have a mechanical/materials/polymer background with 6+ years experience, strong elastomer knowledge, and hands-on problem-solving skills in supplier quality engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s /Master’s degree in Mechanical/Material Science/Polymer Engineering.
• Work experience: min. 6 years (Bachelor); min. 4 years (Master).
• Strong knowledge of elastomer materials and processing techniques such as compression and injection molding.

Responsibilities

• Manage assigned Elastomer suppliers to ensure product quality and timelines.
• Assess non-conformances and lead root-cause and corrective actions with suppliers.
• Support suppliers with 8D (RCCA), PPAP, and supplier deviations/engineering queries.
• Drive supplier improvements via virtual assessments, scorecards, and qualification processes.
• Review supplier manufacturing processes and identify process-improvement opportunities.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain and Engineering to identify value-enhancing opportunities.

What you'll do

This position will be based out of Bangalore, directly reporting to Supplier Quality Manager in India, and closely collaborating with Supplier and Global stakeholders (Supply Chain, Product Group, Manufacturing). This individual would be responsible for managing and executing critical projects, continuous improvement (CI) initiatives, and meeting Quality metrics of Elastomer commodity.

Individual’s primary job responsibilities are listed below.

• Manage assigned suppliers in the Elastomer commodity (Lipseals, O-Rings, Seals etc.,) to ensure product quality and adherence to timelines.
• Assess the impact of internal and external non-conformances and lead problem-solving activities with suppliers to drive root-cause identification and corrective actions that prevent recurrence.
• Support suppliers in preparing and executing 8D (RCCA), First Article submissions, Process of Record documentation (PPAP), and resolving Supplier Deviations and Engineering Queries.
• Drive supplier improvements through virtual assessments, scorecard management, and support for supplier qualification processes.
• Review supplier manufacturing processes and collaborate with them to identify and implement process-improvement opportunities.
• Work closely with Supply Chain and Engineering teams to identify business-value enhancement opportunities.

Who we're looking for

• Bachelor’s /Master's degree in Mechanical/Material Science/Polymer Engineering

Work experience of min. 6 years for Bachelor’s degree and min. 4 years of experience for Master degree.

• Strong knowledge of elastomer materials and processing techniques such as compression molding, injection molding, extrusion etc.,
• Extensive hands-on expertise in resolving quality issues from O-rings, lip seals, and elastomer-based components
• Proven capability in understanding and guiding suppliers on critical manufacturing processes and requirements for elastomers
• Skilled in structured problem-solving tools such as 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, FMEA, Fault Tree Analysis, and DOE.
• Monitor supplier performance through KPIs such as PPM, defects, score cards, Poke-yoke fixtures etc.,

Preferred qualifications

• Hands-on experience in Supplier Quality Engineering, including conducting onsite source inspections, First article development, QMS and Gemba audits
• Experienced in SAP and other enterprise database systems for quality and supplier data management.
• Demonstrated excellence in communication (written and verbal) and delivering effective presentations.
