Job summary

Larsen & Toubro in Dahej, Gujarat, seeks a seasoned Subcontract Manager (Constructions) with 15+ years of overall experience and 6–7 years in a similar role at an international EPC company. You will review proposals, lead technical and commercial evaluations, and drive subcontracting from RFQ to closeout.

Profile requires an engineering degree or diploma and strong knowledge of BOQ, scope split, and contract administration.

Qualifications

• Strong contract administration and subcontracting knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Review proposals and identify required Civil/Mech/E&I items.
• Conduct technical evaluation of subcontracts with Project Engineering Team.
• Prepare BOQ from drawings and coordinate scope of work with site execution team.
• Prepare and float RFQ/RFPs, conduct techno-commercial clarifications, and finalize bids.
• Prepare LOA and work orders; manage change orders and contract administration.
• Assist construction management on contractual matters and resolve subcontract disputes.
• Evaluate subcontractor performance and ensure HSE compliance.

Position Title: Subcontract Manager (Constructions)

Responsibilities:

• Able to review proposal & identify required items of Civil/Mech/E&I.
• Technical evaluation of the subcontract in consultation with the Project Engineering Team
• Survey the market, gather data of potential Subcontractors, assess, enlist and maintain a data bank of Subcontractors .
• Pre-qualification of subcontractors, tendering and finalisation of Subcontracts (both during proposal and execution stage).
• Handling of E & P issues of Subcontractor in close co-ordination with EP team and Scope clarifications with EP team.
• Maintain record and track BOQ measurement (BOQ)/MTO according to the approved drawings.
• Preparing BOQ out of Work volumes provided by Engineering.
• Preparing the scope of work and split of responsibility, along with Site execution team.
• Preparing and floating RFQ/RFP to the prospect bidders and taking the Quotations and completing the bid cycle.
• Conducting Techno commercial clarification meetings with bidders along with the site execution, Engineering, and project teams as per the requirements.
• Correspondence and meetings with Subcontractors on query/clarifications and closing of points.
• Conduction technical and commercial Negotiation with bidders.
• Preparing the Commercial Bid Evaluation, Bid conditioning.
• Preparing the Approval Notes and presentation for Management approval.
• Preparation of LOA and work orders for award of contract.
• Change order management and Contract administration throughout the contract life cycle.
• Assist Construction Management Team on contractual matters related to subcontractor.
• Subcontract dispute resolution
• Identification of Subcontractors’ weakness and corrective measures
• Assessment of HSE compliance Capabilities of the subcontractor
• Evaluating the Quality Control & Assurance aspect of the subcontract
• Evaluating performance of Subcontractors periodically and provide feedback.

• Support Proposals by obtaining offers from Subcontractors on a back-to-back basis for construction and other services.
• Conclude partnering agreements with Subcontractors, where required.

Education: Degree / Diploma in Engineering

Professional Experience:

Overall, 15 Years + experience with at least 6-7 years’ experience in similar role with international EPC company.
