Job summary

Hitachi Energy Ltd. in Chennai invites a seasoned Project Manager Engineering to lead HVDC TA department system delivery for AC Control & Protection and SCADA packages.

You will drive project scope, schedule, budget, risk and stakeholder coordination across internal teams and suppliers, ensuring quality and on-time delivery to end clients. The role requires a 10+ year background in AC Substation/Automation, HVDC knowledge a plus, strong communication, and rigorous adherence to IEEE/IEC

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering or equivalent with 10+ years in AC Control & Protection/SCADA project leadership or management.
• Experience in Substation/Automation and HVDC knowledge is advantageous.
• Familiarity with IEEE/IEC standards and electrical Power systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage HVDC TA department scope of delivery: budget, time, scope, and quality.
• Coordinate with internal and external suppliers for techno-commercial offers and reviews.
• Organize project teams and allocate responsibilities across leads.
• Monitor progress, report on scope, time, budget, and quality; drive customer interactions.
• Communicate with stakeholders, identify risks, and propose mitigations.
• Adhere to quality processes and coordinate with logistics for material movement.
• Ensure ITP/ITR/ITI and material availability; support procurement forecasts.
• Lead project execution, drive process optimization, and seek improvements.
• Participate in internal audits and manage packing/unpacking coordination.
• Monitor hardware/software defects and coordinate design changes.
• Coordinate stage-gate internal witness and customer witness reports.
• Handover to service team with back-up files and reports; ensure compliance with regulations.

The opportunity:

As a Project Manager Engineering for HVDC TA Department system delivery, you will join an aspiring team that works with the HVDC Power transmission links. It is a diverse and independent job, within our project groups, with lots of responsibility and you will have great opportunities to develop your skills within HVDC. HVDC TA department is responsible for delivering AC Control & Protection, SCADA packages to project of HVDC Projects. The key responsibilities include project management, time schedule monitoring, budget monitoring, risk and opportunities, logistics & material management, coordination with Sub suppliers & Internal team, coordination with site team (suppliers / Internal) material installation & commissioning, handover to service team, coordinating with internal & external stakeholders to able to delivery the complete solution to end client.

How you'll make an impact:

• Execute the HVDC TA department scope of delivery within the HVDC project (budget, time, scope and quality). Process Co-ordinator to design / modify the TA process.

• Coordinate with Internal / External suppliers to get Techno commercial offer / solution. Discuss with in TA team to review and validate the technical offer and provide suitable solution to the customer.

• Arrange the project organization based on the project needs and competences of the resources assigned to the project. Allocate the responsibilities to leads and distribute work among them, clarifying responsibilities and expectations.

• Monitor and reports progress of project deliverables and perform continuous follow-up on project scope, time, budget, and quality. Drive customer interactions, discussions, and negotiations over the TA department scope of delivery.

• Coordinate & communicate clearly to all internal & external stakeholders within TA department scope of project objectives, the milestones, the time schedule. Identify and report risks, deviations with suggested mitigating actions.

• Follow the internal quality process & assurance and customer standards. Coordinate with logistics team for the material movement.

• Ensure the customer quality document ITP, ITR, ITI in place, ensure the material availability and initiate the procurement based future forecast. Analysing & report the opportunities towards the project delivery.

• Coordinate the project team to execute the project by giving directions and instructions, clarifying questions, escalating support requests, and mediating discussions with customers. Taking Initiative in project management execution process optimizations, standardization, improvement, etc.

• Participate in the internal audits as per the business process. Coordinate the material packing & unpacking with packing team.

• Monitor & track the hardware & software defects in the quality improvement tool. Follow up the design changes and ensure the implementation.

• Coordinate the stage gate internal witness to prove the system stability and readiness. Follow up the customer witness report and close out the project delivery.

• Handover to service team to take of warranty period with the necessary details of back up files and reports.

• You will be responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background:

• You hold a bachelor's degree in electrical & Electronics Engineering or Equivalent with a minimum work experience of 10 + years in AC Control & Protection project lead/ SAS/ SCADA Engineer or project management in full scope delivery in Sub- Station.

• Substation / Automation background.

• Substation, Relay module & cards, Interface part, Testing method, Safety Standards, Industrial product knowledge.

• AC Substation experience is must.

• HVDC knowledge and experience is advantage.

• Exposure / Basic Knowledge in International electrical (IEEE/IEC) Standards. Knowledge on electric power system.

• Basic knowledge on software handling and on Simulation tools.

• Good knowledge of Office tools like word, excel, ppt.

• Self-starter caliber who could own tasks through to completion. Strong attention to detail.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
