Job summary

Hitachi Energy's Indian Operations Center in Chennai invites a Civil/Structural engineer with 3–5 years of experience to join the GIS Steel Structural Engineering team. You will develop project-specific engineering documents and drawings for GIS steel supports above 66kV and contribute to fabrication drawings.

In Tekla, GA drawings, and Staad.pro, you will model, review, and coordinate with project teams while ensuring inputs from stakeholders and maintaining project documentation per quality

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in civil/structural engineering.
• Proficient with Tekla, Navisworks and modelling software.
• Familiar with Indian, American, European, Canadian standards.
• Knowledge of HSE standards (OSHA, DIN) is mandatory.
• Working knowledge of Staad.pro is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Develop project-specific engineering documents and drawings for GIS steel structures.
• Deliver Tekla models, GA drawings & fabrication drawings for GIS equipment above 66kV.
• Coordinate with Primary/Secondary engineering, PM and Production units.

The Opportunity

The Hitachi Energy Indian Operations Center (INOPC) is a competence center with around 3000+ skilled engineers who focus on tendering, engineering, planning, procurement, project Management, functional system testing, installation supervision, documentation and commissioning. However, over the last decade, it has evolved to become the largest Operations hub. The India Operations Centre team at Chennai, Bangalore and Gurugram supports Hitachi Energy’s units in more than 40 countries across a wide portfolio of all the four business units in Hitachi Energy To date, the team has executed engineering and commissioning for projects in more than 80 countries.

Your responsibility

• You will be a part of the GIS Steel Structural Engineering team, you will be supporting the project engineers / project lead engineers to develop project specific engineering documents and drawings for submission to customer and the documents required for manufacturing of Steel Support Structures for GIS equipment (transmission and sub-transmission systems).
• You will be an individual contributor who would deliver the tasks as per the given inputs and when required need to work in coordination with other colleagues and should exhibit good collaborative skills to complete the task.
• You may also interact with other departments like Primary Engineering, Secondary engineering, Project Management and Production units.
• Preparation of Tekla model, GA drawings & Fabrication drawings of Steel Support Structures for Gas Insulated Switchgears above 66kV. Also expected to do related structural design activities using Staadpro.
• Ensure all necessary inputs are available from stakeholders.
• Prepare project specific Civil plan for customer providing GIS loading for design of customer building floor, ceiling cranes etc., Influence of environmental conditions on GIS structure designs etc.
• Self-review & peer review of documents.
• Delivery of designs on time with Quality and coordinating with the other team members and project lead engineer.
• Directly responsible for maintaining and updating the documentation for respective projects as per quality process.

Your background

• Years of experience: 3 – 5 years with B.E in Civil & Structural Engineering.
• Hand on experience in Tekla, Navisworks and other modelling softwares.
• Familiarity with codes and applicable standards necessary for Structural Modelling & Detailing (Indian, American, European, Canadian etc.) is desirable.
• Team player with good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge tools like AUTOCAD, MSOffice etc.
• Knowledge of Galvanization & painting procedures.
• Knowledge of HSE standards like OSHA, DIN etc.. is mandatory.
• Knowledge of international standards such as IEC/ IEEE / ANSI is preferable.
• Knowledge of HV substation / HV products preferable.
• Working knowledge of Staad.pro is an added advantage.
• working knowledge of Rhino and grasshopper is preferable.
