About the Job

Cockroach Labs is looking for a Staff Technical Writer to lead documentation for CockroachDB’s self-hosted deployment and operations—especially Kubernetes operator and proprietary tooling.

You will collaborate with engineering teams based in Bangalore and documentation peers globally to create highly technical, user-friendly guides for system administrators, DevOps engineers, and enterprise architects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own and improve self-hosted deployment and operations documentation, including Kubernetes-based and proprietary tools.
  • Translate complex product and infrastructure topics into actionable content (how-to guides, tutorials, references).
  • Work closely with engineers, PMs, and enterprise users to align content with customer needs.
  • Collaborate with global documentation teams and help refine writing standards and tooling.
  • Drive initiatives to evolve the documentation process, tooling, and structure.
Ideal Candidate Should Have
  • 8+ years of experience writing for a highly technical audience.
  • Strong expertise in Linux, networking, cloud infrastructure, and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with Git and docs-as-code workflows.
  • Deep understanding of infrastructure, distributed systems, and API documentation.
  • Proven ability to learn and simplify complex topics independently.
  • Collaborative experience with engineering, product, and documentation teams.
