Meet the Team
The Firmware Verification and Validation team focuses on automated testing and continuous improvement, ensuring high‑quality products for our customers.
Where you come in
- Partner closely with Firmware Development, Systems Engineering, QA, Cybersecurity, and Regulatory teams
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership
- Create test plans, reports, traceability matrices, and other documentation for FDA‑regulated test projects
- Develop software verification plans, test protocols, and conduct risk analyses for commercial products
- Validate configuration, functionality, and user interface of software and tools
- Design, develop, execute, and maintain automated test scripts for software testing
- Execute existing test cases and build/modify test interfaces for new or modified firmware features on next‑generation CGM transmitters
- Identify and mitigate risks, resolving roadblocks proactively
- Apply principles of low‑power systems design and implementation
- Implement engineering and quality process improvements
- Work with analog and digital hardware interfaces and software operating systems
- Contribute to improving Dexcom’s gross margin through design enhancements
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- Collaborate with other engineers as needed
What makes you successful
- In‑depth knowledge of at least one programming language; experience with Java, C#, or other object‑oriented languages
- Solid experience with automated test development and familiarity with a range of testing frameworks
- Strong debugging skills using configuration files, logs, or code review
- Experience with defect life cycles and tracking tools such as Jira
- Active participation in design reviews, providing input on requirements, design, and potential issues
- Technical guidance and mentorship for junior engineers
- Prior experience in embedded programming, especially with low‑power microcontrollers in battery‑powered systems
- Experience with the FDA design control process
- Knowledge of GMP and medical‑device product development processes
- Embedded firmware testing expertise
- Understanding of Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) specifications
- Leadership experience in leading or supporting multiple projects across sites and geographies
- Ability to guide teams and projects in comprehensive testing and automation across software products
Experience and Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (minimum 8–12 years of related experience) or Master’s degree with 5–7 years of equivalent experience; PhD with 2–4 years of experience also considered
