Walmart Inc. is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead architecture and design of scalable enterprise applications at Walmart Global Tech in India.

You will contribute hands-on with Java, Spring Boot, microservices, REST APIs, and optional React/Node.js work to deliver end-to-end solutions. You will mentor engineers, drive best practices in code quality, testing, security, observability, and CI/CD, while collaborating with product and business teams to translate requirements into robust

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience building large-scale enterprise applications.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, microservices, REST APIs, and distributed systems.
• Experience with React, TypeScript, Node.js and/or NestJS is preferred.
• Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, object-oriented programming, system design, and design patterns.
• Experience designing systems for scalability, high availability, resiliency, security, and performance.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, GCP, or AWS, along with CI/CD, DevOps, logging, metrics, and observability.
• Experience with databases, data modeling, caching, and performance optimization.
• Strong technical leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to influence across teams.

• Troubleshoot complex technical and production issues and drive long-term solutions.
• Mentor engineers and raise the engineering bar through design reviews, code reviews, technical guidance, and knowledge sharing.

Additional Experience

• Experience designing and building ETL/ELT pipelines, including batch and real‑time data processing solutions.
• Experience working with data lakes and data warehouses, including data modeling, schema design, partitioning, and query/performance optimization.
• Hands‑on experience with workflow orchestration platforms such as Apache Airflow/Astronomer, including DAG development, scheduling, monitoring, and pipeline reliability.
• Experience building applications and APIs that integrate with large‑scale enterprise data platforms.
• Working knowledge of Python and modern data processing technologies.
• Exposure to Generative AI, LLM‑based applications, RAG, information retrieval, or machine learning.
• Experience exploring and applying AI‑assisted engineering and automation to improve developer productivity, software quality, and operational efficiency.
