Job summary

bp is seeking a senior backend engineer to design and build scalable, secure platform components across multiple AWS regions. You will partner with mobile, product, security, and vendor teams to deliver end-to-end features and own delivery from design to production operations.

The role requires 12+ years of backend experience with Go and AWS expertise, plus strong communication and leadership skills. It is a hybrid role with potential relocation within the country.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering experience with recent backend development.
• Strong Go (or deep experience in a comparable language) with gRPC/Protocol Buffers and API design.
• Solid AWS experience - ECS/Fargate, DynamoDB, ElastiCache, load balancing, and IaC (CDK or Terraform).
• Proven track record designing and operating distributed, multi-region systems in production.
• Excellent communication; comfortable working across teams, time zones and vendors.
• Experience with consumer mobile apps (iOS/Android) is a plus.
• Observability experience with metrics, logs and traces (Grafana/OpenTelemetry).
• CI/CD with Azure DevOps; TypeScript for infrastructure code is a plus.
• AI in engineering experience is a plus.

Job description

• Partner with mobile (iOS/Android), product, security and vendor teams to deliver end-to-end customer features
• Own delivery end to end - design documents, code, tests, deployment pipelines and production operations
• Set and uphold engineering standards for code quality, reviews, testing, observability and secure coding
• Lead technical decisions across markets and guide the team through complex third-party integrations (payments, loyalty, identity, content)
• Drive reliability, performance and cost efficiency of the platform
• Mentor engineers and help grow the team's capability

What you will need

Education:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience.

Must have:

• 12+ years of software engineering experience with recent, hands‑on backend development
• Strong Go (or deep experience in a comparable language with willingness to work in Go), plus gRPC/Protocol Buffers and API design
• Solid AWS experience - ECS/Fargate, DynamoDB, ElastiCache, load balancing, and infrastructure as code (CDK or Terraform)
• Proven track record designing and operating distributed, multi‑region systems in production
• Excellent communication; comfortable working across teams, time zones and vendors

Should have:

• Experience building or working closely with consumer mobile apps (iOS/Android)
• Experience with observability - metrics, logs and traces (Grafana, OpenTelemetry or similar)

Good to have:

• CI/CD with Azure DevOps; TypeScript for infrastructure code
• Consumer mobile app backend experience at scale
• Hands‑on experience applying AI in engineering - AI‑assisted development tools or building AI‑enabled feature
