Job summary

Walmart Global Tech in India seeks a seasoned software engineer to design, develop and implement high-performance, scalable applications for Walmart International customers. You will collaborate across geographies, drive architectural decisions and deliver data-driven, cloud-native solutions.

The role emphasizes Java, Kafka, microservices, cloud platforms (Azure/GCP), and Data Engineering, with leadership across engineering, product and architecture teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in CS/CE/IS/Software Engineering with 4 years of software engineering experience or 6 years of software engineering experience.
• Preferred: Master's degree in CS/CE/IS/Software Engineering with 2 years of relevant experience.

Responsible for coding, unit testing, building high performance and scalable applications that meet the needs of millions of Walmart-International customers, in the areas of supply chain management & Customer experience.

About Team

Our team collaborates with Walmart International, which has over 5,900 retail units operating outside of the United States under 55 banners in 26 countries including Africa, Argentina, Canada, Central America, Chile, China, India, Japan, and Mexico, to name a few.

What You'll Do

Drive design, development, implementation and documentation

Interact with Walmart engineering teams across geographies to leverage expertise and contribute to the tech community.

Engage with Product Management and Business to drive the agenda, set your priorities and deliver awesome products.

Drive the success of the implementation by applying technical skills, to design and build enhanced processes and technical solutions in support of strategic initiatives.

Work closely with the Architects and cross functional teams and follow established practices for the delivery of solutions meeting QCD (Quality, Cost & Delivery). Within the established architectural guidelines.

You will work with engineering teams to create high level and low level designs, drive design discussion and technical decisions.

What You'll Bring

Define and execute the technical roadmap for one or more products.

Design and build scalable, resilient solutions using Java, Microservices Architecture, and Kafka-based Event-Driven Systems.

Drive cloud-native architecture, modernization, and optimization leveraging Azure and/or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

Lead Data Engineering initiatives, including data pipelines, integrations, and real-time processing solutions.

Champion Engineering Excellence through architecture governance, code quality, automation, observability, and technical debt reduction.

Drive Operational Excellence through reliability engineering, automation, proactive monitoring, and continuous improvement.

Identify and implement Cloud Cost Optimization opportunities while balancing performance, scalability, and business requirements.

Promote an AI-First mindset by leveraging AI-enabled tools and capabilities to improve engineering productivity and operational efficiency.

Mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and provide cross-functional leadership across engineering, product, and architecture teams.

Preferred Experience: Strong expertise in Java, Kafka, Microservices, Cloud Technologies (Azure/GCP), Data Engineering, Distributed Systems, and Enterprise Architecture with proven experience leading large-scale modernization and transformation initiatives.
